Akira The Don

This man above is a British musical artist who goes by Akira The Don. In a very short time he has produced hundreds of songs and even spawned a new musical genre fans have dubbed "Meaningwave".

It's phenomenal.

What makes this musical artist unlike any other is not just the sick beats, filthy sounds, and slick stylings, but there is a deeper element hidden in the lyrics. Using open content made available by such minds as Alan Watts, Jodan Peterson, Jocko Willinik, Harrison Bergeron, Tom Waits, Hunter S. Thompson, and more, Akira has created music that teaches you life lessons in three to 5 minutes. I'm going to focus on a few of my favorites, but if you are already sold, here is a link to his Twitter and his top tracks below.

I Can't Hear You

Released this year was the album, The Gary Vee Show, and it has a song I can't get over, now matter how hard I try.

I've bookmarked a song above called I Can't Hear You. In it's six minutes Gary Vee constructs how we over complicate our life simply because of how much we choose to hear. It explains how we value the input of others more than we value the sanctity of ourselves. Couple that with other lessons learned in the album, about focusing on what you are good at, about never getting away from the thing that made you successful. Mind Control

Jocko Willinik is a former navy seal, the lessons Akira constructs for us from Jocko's teaching is about poise, self control, focus, and the most important of those is Mind control, being able to realize that you are the machine that pilots the biological organism that is your body. Of course, for some, this is outside of our control, but for most there is some level of mental exertion we can assume to compose ourselves, and to better set ourselves up for tomorrow.

Stand Up Straight

This is the first song I ever heard by Akira The Don. It uses speaking from Jordan Peterson and his book 12 Rules for Life; an Antidote to Chaos. Although there is some information expressed in the book I disagree with, overall there are some great rules for how to improve your quality of life, and this one is the first and foremost biggest cheat code. It talks about a hierarchy of power, and finding your place. However, don't get confused that finding your place means you stay there. Knowing who is better than you tells you who to examine so that you can progress. They are the next rung in the ladder and to be the best version of you possible generally means confronting them in some way. Not always antagonistically, but approaching someone "better" can come with fear. Changing your attitude to one of "I can do anything" is such a powerful mantra, whether that attitude comes from Divine assistance, or your own self worth. This is probably one of the hardest lessons, but the best way to start, is presenting yourself with an open mentality.

Ordinary Everyday Consciousness

This last one may be the heaviest. It outlines our perspective and experience as well as the ignorance that we have. There are things that go on in reality that we just miss. Important things that we miss that would make our lives less complicated, and more peaceful. It really is difficult to express what it is that your missing when you don't even realize that you are missing it.

It's easy to talk about profundity and meaning and get into a point of pretentiousness, and yet Alan Watts was a genius thinker and philosopher. It's much easier to digest when set to music this way. It repeats and enforces the meaning, much like a gentle wave.

Thanks

I hope that this music can teach your more about yourself as it did for me. Akira is a fantastic artist who regularly puts out multiple albums each year. He works with rappers, and also make a lot of Lofi music that is great for studying and relaxing. I think Akira the Don is an underrated musical icon who really wants to help expand the dialog that we have with music, and with each other.
