Skootii - Atlanta’s Upcoming Artist
Skootii
What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Nicholas Hairston, my artist name is Skootii and I’m from Atlanta, GA
What makes you different?
What makes me different is that I’m very laidback and resevered. I watch who I trust and want to bring inside my circle. I am very observant and it keeps me aware of things. As a person I am quiet so it can be hard to portray feelings towards others which is how music helps me. I am able to get out thoughts and express emotions through songs. However a beat may move me is the level of emotion and intensity that I’m going to give. As an artist, especially being in Atlanta, there are a lot of influences and culture that helps build who I am and what I know.
What do you want to accomplish in life?
In life I want to be successful and gain wealth not only for myself but for me to provide and take care of those who have taken care of me. I want to give back to my family and close friends. As well as my community, organizations, and businesses that are giving positive messages to others. My family, especially my parents have done a lot for me and my siblings and they are continuing to go above and beyond to make sure that we are straight. That amount of love I have for them is unreal. As I grow with my music I want people around the world to know who Skootii is, and be able to listen to my music on all occasions and environments. From all different ages as well.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I see myself continuing to grow with my music and recording tracks with big name artists. I also see myself being financially stable on the path to obtaining wealth and creating opportunities for others. In 5 years, I want to not only be successful with music but also in school and obtain a degree of some kind. It is always important to have a back up plan and option to lean on.
What do you bring to the music industry?
I bring energy, personal style, and clarity. What I mean by clarity is the sense of speaking what’s true and from feelings. A lot of artist can say anything on a track and make it sound good, and it may not even be real but the track is tough so it doesn’t even matter. Many people have heard of rap cap, which is something I’m not a fan of but I don’t knock it because every artist is unique and has their way of making music. For me personally, I like to speak what’s on my mind, how I’m feeling, etc. Now don’t get me wrong, some bars may just go along with the song of how I’m feeling, but for the most part I want people to understand me through my music and feel as if they are me when they listen and rap to my lyrics. I want people to hear that I’m from Westside Atlanta, and that I’m going to rep my city all day. The passion I have for music is unmatched especially at my age, and I’ll put everything I have into it.
What legacy do you want to leave behind?
The legacy I want people to know me for doesn’t even have to deal with music. I want people to know that I am a genuine person that will look out for his people, whether it’s family or friends. I want my legacy to be known that the music isn’t about me, it’s for others to vibe out to and hear no matter what mood they may be in. I want to put a smile on people’s faces when they see me and to give back to the ones I love. Most importantly, I want my city to know who I am. I want their support out of everyone’s and that I have their back as long as they have mine. I want to build an empire behind my name so that the people after me can eat from it.
