This is a short series of songs written for each day of the week. I begin with songs with Monday in the title and will add the links to each one below as I progress.

I loved this song, “Manic Monday” by American pop-rock band The Bangles right from the start. Finally, instead of complaining about my Mondays, I could sing about them instead. The song was written by American musician Prince under the pseudonym “Christopher”. It is on the band's 1986 album Different Light. It became The Bangles first hit and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Come Monday” is a song that was written and recorded by American singer and songwriter Jimmy Buffet. It is featured on his 1974 album Living & Dying in ¾ Time. It is one of Buffet’s more popular songs and is part of “The Big 8” that he plays at almost all concerts. The song became his first Top 40 hit single and charted on the Billboard Hot 100, Easy Listening, and Country charts.

An ever-popular and classic song is “Monday Monday” which was written by group member John Phillips in 1966 and recorded by the American folk, rock, and vocal group The Mamas and the Papas. The song became the group’s only number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 1967 they won a Grammy Award for this song Best Contemporary Group Performance, Vocal, or Instrumental. It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008. The Mamas and the Papas performed the song at the Monterey Pop Festival.

“Rainy Days and Mondays” is a song that was written by Paul Williams and Roger Nichols. It was recorded by the American vocal duo The Carpenters and featured on their self-titled third album. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It became the duo’s fourth number-one single on the Adult Contemporary Singles chart and was certified Gold by the RIAA.

Monday Morning” is a song that was written and sung by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsay Buckingham. It is the first track from the multi-platinum, second eponymous album Fleetwood Mac. The song has been performed on all the band’s tours from 1975 to 1978.

Blue Monday” is a song that was written by Dave Bartholomew. It was originally recorded in 1953 by Smiley Lewis and issued as a single in 1954. The song became popular in 1956 when it was recorded by American singer, songwriter, and pianist Fats Domino. His version was featured in the film “The Girl Can’t Help It” and charted at number one on the R&B Best Sellers chart. It is on the 1959 album Fats Domino Sings 12,000,000 Records.

New Moon on Monday” is the tenth single by the English New Wave band Duran Duran. It was released in 1984 and is featured on their album Seven and the Ragged Tiger. The song charted on the UK Singles and Billboard Hot 100 charts.

I Don’t Like Mondays” is a song recorded by the Irish New Wave group The Boomtown Rats. It was written about the Cleveland Elementary School shooting in San Diego, California. The song was released as the lead single from their 1979 album The Fine Art of Surfacing. The song went to number one on the UK Singles chart and also charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was written by Bob Geldof and Johnnie Finger as a piano ballad and became the band’s second number-one single on the UK chart. In the UK at the Ivor Novello Awards, it won the Best Pop Song and Outstanding British Lyric categories,
