“Sloop John B” was originally published as “The John B. Sails”. It was a Bahamian folk song from Nassau. In 1966 the American rock band The Beach Boys recorded the song as a folk rock adaptation. It was released as a single and on their album Pet Sounds. The song was ranked at number 276 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time”.

“Come Sail Away” is a song recorded by the American progressive rock group Styx. It was written and sung by singer and songwriter Dennis De Young. The song was on their seventh album The Grand Illusion in 1977 and the lead single. It charted on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box charts.

“Sailing” is a soft rock song from 1979. It was written and recorded by American singer and songwriter Christopher Cross. The song is on his debut album Christopher Cross which has been certified Gold. It rose to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. That year the song won two Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and for Arrangement of the Year and Cross won the Best New Artist award.

“Red Sails in the Sunset” is a popular song that was published in 1935. It was written by Hugh Williams with lyrics by songwriter Jimmy Kennedy. The inspiration for the song was the “red sails” of Kitty of Coleraine, a yacht Kennedy saw off the northern coast of Northern Ireland. In turn, the song inspired the Red Sails Festival held annually in Portstewart, a seaside resort in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The song was included in the Broadway production of the Provincetown Follies. Some of the popular versions of this song were recorded by Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, and others.

“Sea Cruise” is a song that was written and sung by American rhythm-and-blues pianist Huey “Piano” Smith and His Clowns. It was included on the 1971 compilation Huey “Piano” Smith’s Rock & Roll Revival. The song was certified Gold.

“Sailing on the Seven Seas” is a song recorded by English electronic music band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. It was released as a single and is on their eighth album Sugar Tax from 1991. It charted on the UK Singles chart.

“Beyond the Sea” is an English version of the French song “La Mer” by Charles Trenet. The song was popularized by American musician and actor Bobby Darin in 1959. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100, R&B, and UK Singles charts.

“Sea of Love” is a song that was written by John Philip Baptiste (known as Phil Phillips) and George Khoury. The song was recorded by Phillips in 1959. It went to number one on the Billboard R&B chart and also charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was awarded a Gold disc. The song became very popular when it was used in the film “Sea of Love” starring Al Pacino.

“Under the Sea” is a song written for the animated film “The Little Mermaid” by Disney in 1989. It was composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman. The music has a the calypso style of the Caribbean that originated in Trinidad and Tobago and a touch of reggae originating from Jamaica. The song was performed in the movie by American singer and actor Samuel E. Wright. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. In the movie the song was a plea from the crab Sebastian imploring Ariel, the mermaid to stay beneath the sea and not to go ashore.
