A List of 5 New Boy Bands on the Rise

Most of the popular music that came out in the 90s and early to late 2000s was from boy bands. Some of the well-remembered boy bands are Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys, N*SYNC, Linkin Park, O-town, New Kids on the Block, Jonas Brothers, and One Direction. After many of these boy bands ended their group, solo artists began to dominate the music industry. However, since as 2015, there have been a couple of boy groups that have been put together and now produce music that you may have never heard about: In Real Life, New Hope Club, Pretty Much, RoadTrip, and Why Don't We

1. In Real Life

In Real Life is an American boy band formed from the tv show, Boyband on August 24, 2017. The show’s debut was in 2017 and had judges, Nick Carter, Emma Bunton, Timbaland, and host Rita Ora. In Real Life has members (left to right), Brady Tutton, Sergio Calderon, Drew Ramos, Chance Perez, and Michael Conor ranging from ages 16-20. The band’s first song was “Eye’s Closed” written by Justin Tranter for the winners of the show and the band has released 2 songs as of January 2018.

2. New Hope Club

New Hope Club is a UK band formed in 2015 and consists of (left to right), George Smith, Reece Bibby—former X-Factor participant—and Blake Richardson ranging from ages 18-19. The band regularly posts covers of songs and vlogs on their YouTube channel, “New Hope Club” and uploads their music on their other channel, “NewHopeClubVevo.” They have also released 2 albums and have 2 songs featured in the new animation, Early Man.

3. Pretty Much

Pretty Much is an American boy band formed in 2016 by Simon Cowell who found the boys on their social media, like Vine and Youtube. The boys (left to right) are, Nick Mara—was on America’s Best Dance Crew—, Zion Kuwonu, Brandon Arreaga, Austin Porter, and Edwin Honoret. The boy band posts dancing videos, and covers of songs on their YouTube channel, “PRETTYMUCH.” They released their first song, “Would You Mind” in July of 2017 and have 4 songs released as of January 2018.

4. Road Trip

RoadTrip is a British/Irish band that consists of (left to right), Rye Beaumont, Andy Fowler, Mikey Cobban, Brooklyn Wyatt, and Jack Duff. The band formed on July 29, 2015, and originally consisted of 4 members, but in December of 2016 a 5th member was added, Jack Duff. The band released their first song, "Doing That Thing We Do" and have released another album following the completion of Miss Taken.

5. Why Don't We

Why Don’t We consists of American boys, ages 16-19 famous for their work on YouTube who met each other through tours such as DigiTour. The members of the band are (left to right), Corbyn Besson, Daniel Seavey, Zach Herron, Jonah Marais, and Jack Avery. The group was formed in 2016 and released their first song, “Taking You” in October of 2016.
