"What Happened" on #BCTB

Host Jevon 'Jerzey' Goldson has launched a mini-series called "What Happened," on his instagram live show Black Culture The Breakdown #BCTB, which he co-hosts with Lelee Lyons of the group SWV. "What happened" is a new series created to have deeper conversations with individuals and organizations who have achieved success and fame in the entertainment industry.

The level of success met by these public figures varies, and while some experience longevity in the industry, others see their success cut short. These different lived experiences by entertainers brings about one commonly asked question, "What Happened?" which gives the name to the mini-series that is sponsored by Gospel Artist Entertainment & Black SD Magazine.

RAYAN LOPEZ

One of the guests on the show was Rayan Lopez from the boy band Mindless Behaviour, an american band that was best known for the singles "My Girl" and "Mrs. Right." Mindless Behavior toured with the Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber, Jason Derülo, and was the opening act for Janet Jackson's 2011 tour. The band also headlined the first BET Closer to My Dreams Tour alongside Diggy Simmons, Lil Twist, Tyga, Trevante, and Jawan Harris. In 2011, Mindless Behavior headlined the SCREAM Tour with Diggy Simmons featuring OMG Girlz, Jacob Latimore, and Hamiliton Park. When asked by co-host Lelee Lyons if he would change anything about being in the band, Lopez said: "Everything happens for a reason. I genuinely appreciate my experience so much, because you go into this industry being so young and you're thrown around in different directions, and then you realize you are just showcasing a talent, but there's a whole business happening around you, and because of that, I wouldn't change a thing, because I learned so much at such a young age."

CARNELL FREDRICK BREEDING

Another guest on the show was recording artist Carnell Fredrick from the group B5, a group composed of five brothers. The group was formerly known as the TNT Boyz featuring only the four eldest brothers, but renamed themselves B5 when Bryan, the youngest brother, joined the group. From late 2009 to early 2010, they renamed themselves Audio and then returned to the name B5 on May 30, 2012. Bryan and Patrick left the group, leaving Dustin, Kelly, and Carnell to rename themselves Men in Black(MIB). After Dustin and Carnell had their own kids, they dropped out of the group leaving Kelly as a rapper and Dustin a soloist, while Carnell stopped making music to devote his time to his family. However, recently the artist has reimmersed in the music scene, this time solo, with the single "Water Gun," currently on Spotify. On the show, Carnell said that being in a group is impactful but sometimes ego can get in the way and blow things left field, however, most people that have been a part of a band feel a lot of gratitude for everything that is learned during that time. He went on to explain that in his specific case, he will always feel like he is a part of the group because, no matter what, they are all family.

OH BOY PRINCE

The third guest to appear on the show was Oh Boy Prince of the band GS Boyz, an American hip hop group from Arlington, Texas, formed in 2005. The group gained national popularity and sold over 1 million records under Sony Music, RCA Records, and MWN Music Group after nationally distributing their debut single "Stanky Legg," which was independently released in September 2008 by Todd J. Alexander, Cornelious Brock the Founder of MWN Music Group. The Official GS Boyz released a new single in September 2017 titled "Off Top." When host 'Jerzey' asked Prince how the experience of being thrown into a group of people who didn't know each other from before was, he said: "In our case we each had a very distinct role, so we didn't feel the competitive edge to 'hate on' each other. We each had our own fans and we felt we could've had our own chance to 'graduate' into our own solo careers, we could've been like the group Migos. They've been going for a while now, and we never hear rumours of them breaking-up, because they are each able to collaborate with other artists as solo individuals too, which is what we could've done.

The full episode of the show can be found on the Youtube channel titled "TheOnlyJerzey."
