Rapping With The Grandson

Just for fun

By Denise E LindquistPublished 9 months ago • Updated 9 months ago • 3 min read
Me ten years ago. As I wrote a rap song for my grandson. My cap makes all the difference.

Logan:

Grandma write a rap song for me

You wrote a song for Brandon

We sang that song for him see

I don’t want to rap random…

Gma:

Logan slow down, say again?

Logan: Hey Granny, rap for me

Write some words for me to see

Gma: So, I’m a rapping Granny

I know I’m not a nanny

I’ll see what I can do, boo

To write you a rap to do

Repeat after me, okay

Logan: After me, okay, hey, hey

Logan & Gma first:

Gaming is the bomb, some say

Rubik cube is easy for me

I’ll give it a spin to win

The competition is sweet

So neat, not a bunch of nerds

Hey, how about all these words?

Logan & Gma first:

I’m one of eight and don’t skate

I play bb ball of late

I’m too young to date or mate

I do well in school today

Hey, school will be out soon, yaay

Logan: What else is there to say, GMom?

What no n word, no b word, no f bomb

Boy, it can’t be explicit

My mom will have you fix it

Gma: I’m a granny, you may not

Use that crap with me, you nerd

You heard me don’t worry me bird

Logan Smogan let’s try again

Let’s begin…

Logan: oh granny you have no beat

Has to be plenty of rhyme

Can’t be too long or too short

Gma: This will be a treat for you

We have lots of time for rhyme

Abort if too long or short

Repeat after me, you’ll see

Logan & Gma first:

My rap won’t have the b word,

Or the F bomb in this song

It could have nerd, bird or turd.

There may be, you are the third

Or rap along with me… word.

Won’t be loser or boozer

Maybe a bit of snoozer

Nah, not really! Or sleepy

Maybe a little creepy

Logan: Creepy? How rapping granny?

Gma: just words, you nerd, like fanny.

It matches granny okay?

Gaga is creepy, you see

Be careful, or you may be

Hanging with gaga today

Logan & Gma first:

So school is a bore fo shore

It’s that time of year you hear

Some drink beer this time of year

No, not me, really abhor

I’ll suffer through this school deal

Oh, winter was long for real

But we can do it to it

Finish this year off, may bite

And you’ll see I’m not uptight

The plan is to graduate

And man, Stan, it won’t be late!

Give me credit, I’ll do it

And not just a little bit

Learning another language

And hey, you, do not judge me

To keep from getting bored

While I soar and score through school

Some say Sindarin is fake

Don’t make me take you on Jake

The Eldhrim in Sindarin

Save me elvish medicine

Words in beautiful elvish

There are those who are selfish

Don’t mind them, I’m one of em

Gaming is my sport of sort

I enjoy _________ the most

I am pretty good, no boast

I can miss out on some things

Mom doesn’t know what she sings

My grades are good as can be

My face on the screen you see

Is giving me what I want

To escape from day to day

Yes, you have it, I’m a nerd

I’m called a nerd, the third bird

Not that bad, it’s kinda sad

Makes me want to fling something

So, I go gaming to bring

me back to who I wish to be

Don’t you see, it’s the real me

Definitely me, you see

Logan & Gma first:

Gaming is the bomb, some say

Rubik cube is easy for me

I’ll give it a spin to win

The competition is sweet

So neat, not a bunch of nerds

Hey, how about all these words?

Logan & Gma first:

I’m one of eight and don’t skate

I play bb ball of late

I’m too young to date or mate

I do well in school today

Hey, school will be out soon, yaay

Author's Note: This was a first draft. We sang it along with a handdrum and a rattle for some beat. Fun, but his rapping career was short, as was his older brother's. I don't think my lyrics could compete with the pros. I was later told I couldn't understand the language.

This post was meant for the Nothing but voices challenge, until I realized it was to be fiction. I am confusing people with my fiction prompts when I am using non-fiction stories to use with the prompt. Time to fix this. This won't be posted in fiction, or entered into the challenge.
