I woke up to the saddest news this morning. Unfortunately, A member of the Hip-Hop community has been lost today. On Sunday, December 8, 2019 Rapper known as Juice WRLD born Jarod Higgins, has passed away at the age of 21. He reportedly died after having a seizure at Chicago’s midway airport after getting off a plane from Los Angeles. So far, no official cause of death has came out but reports have been proven that they were drugs found on the plane. He has no been no stranger to drugs and has been very open to his pill addiction. It has been promoted in songs and clear examples of those are like “Lean with Me,” “Realer n Realer” and “Hear me Calling.” This saddens me the most because Juice WRLD was from my hometown of Chicago, Illinois. I feel like he helped influence the sound of Chicago Hip-hop in a great way. He was one of the leading figures in hip hop today due to his incredible freestyle and great music. This made me think of what I hope young people can learn from leading forward in life.

1. Stay away from drugs .

This is one I am strongly passionate about because I know people in the past who have done drugs and I hope people of the young culture need to stay away from drugs because the harmful chemicals that are in them harm your body. Percocets, Comethazine and Marijuana were found on his plane. Drugs only provide temporary happiness and they make you feel good year but in the long run. Juice also preached about his use of drugs whether he liked doing them with his own experience or preaching trying so hard to get clean. I hope all of his own listeners to stay away from because that is sending the wrong message.

2. Cherish the people you love the most

The people who are around you are the circle you should always be close to. Make sure every time and every moment you spend is a great one and do not end on bad terms. You never ever know when it will be the last time you will ever see someone you love . It is uncertain when you ever see someone again so it is best to live in the moment with them. I wish I had that with my uncle before he died. He was always funny and in my life and he had cancer in late 2013 and died in early 2014. That is when I knew to always cherish my family members.

Besides that, Juice WRLD gave us great music and definitely became a factor in the hip hop game for sure. He had so many fans who have applauded him for making songs touching subjects about mental health, depression and addictions. He was out for almost ever since his 2018 breakout “Lucid Dreams.” Later that year in May 2018, now being signed to Interscope Records, released his debut album Goodbye and Good Riddance. He then later a year later released his sophomore album Death Race for love, which was his first album to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was another talented artist who had potential to be bigger and grow. He even cited certain rock bands and Eminem as inspiration. I’m writing this to pay tribute to him because this was another human being who just turned 21 who lost his life. I did like his songs heavily and they were catchy and good songs and not generic mumbling type of songs. We need to be careful, protect and help the young artists coming up and steer them to the right path. Artists who have currently died young for example like Lil Peep, XXXTENTACION and Mac Miller. Young artists need to learn and be aware of the dangers of drugs and keep a clear head and be happy with the trusted people around you. I hope people realize that he was just another innocent kid trying to be a successful young man and make it in the world who just fell for the trap of success with drugs and fame. Keep this in mind for everyone who wants to make it in the music business to be grounded person and do not let the music world change by damaging yourself and putting your own life at risk. So with that being said, long live Juice WRLD and his music may live on with his fans and May he Rest In Peace.
