Nicki is CATCHIN' HEAT

It’s not unusual that artists forget their lyrics. But Nicki Minaj made it theatrical and is a repeat offender. Her inability to recall her lines is just the latest in artists who’ve been on stage performing and the words just slip from their minds.

If she wanted to be a professional, she would have rehearsed more to make sure her lines stayed on their consciousnesses. What she is being remembered for over the weekend however, is that she was supposed to be at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

To consider the fact she’s also going through marital issues is something that is weighing heavy on her head like a crown. The Queen of Queens is still very much an in-demand woman even if she has lost her goddamn mind. Her affiliation with President Trump just shows her inability to deal with reality.

She lost track of her lyrics possibly because she’s so hooked by Trump’s presence on the world stage that she can’t perform properly on stage. When she walked to her DJ to see if it was okay to remember her words, she appeared shaken. Visibly, she sort of waddled to the DJ table and showed that she didn’t have a clue to speak her lyrics. Then, she appears to have pulled the words. She rattled off a few lines to put her engine on the tracks again.

For her to become the latest example of someone who has forgotten lyrics is the least of her troubles, however. Again, signs point to her marriage falling apart, allegedly. Kenneth Petty seemingly got a woman pregnant and the couple have been separated for weeks. Nicki is in a $20 million mansion in the Hidden Hills while Petty is nestled in a modest Queens property.

By speculating, we can surmise that her show seemed the last thing in her mind as she sped to the White House dinner only to have it canceled. A great amount of worry has been placed on the head of the raptress. In light of the recent accusations, the “Starship” rapper has been steadily declining as part of the hip hop community.

Of course she has her Barbz but they can only stand her latest political forays. She has become more of her punchline and now she’s unable to remember her punchlines. With all of the songs in her catalogue she must in the future go over her material. Usually, you could blame the marijuana for draining an artist of their memory. Is she on the leaf? Has she taken the same route as her friend and mentor Lil’ Wayne who can’t draw up his own lyrics which may be attributed to use of weed.

Regardless, it’s unprofessional and a bad look for anyone who claims to be a recording artist. She should feel embarrassed and improve. She doesn’t have to sulk in her imperfections but she should excel and make it possible for other female rappers to stand on stages and rap all their lyrics.

If she thinks she can just jump in front of crowds, she should be prepared. Once she realizes that she’s a multi-millionaire because of her audience, she might want to brush up on those bars. She could just sit down on the stage and hold the microphone out and ask everyone to rap and sing along, but what would that look like? She’s a forty-something who is not Patti Labelle. She’s seasoned. She can go without lyrics. Nicki has no excuse.

She has the power to become a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer one day and she should act accordingly at her live shows. That’s it.
