1. “Anyhow” - Tedeschi Trucks Band

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEXCTqbJmrQ

This song resonates with me because it is about making your dreams happen no matter what obstacles arise. I like songs that are inspiring and that cause me to feel motivated.

2. “You’ve Got A Friend”- James Taylor

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEkIou3WFnM

I always play this song when I am upset. It’s soothing and calm tones place me into a state of serenity. I always think of all of my friends. Everyone should know that, somewhere, they have a friend.

3. “New York, New York”- Frank Sinatra

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le1QF3uoQNg

I live in New York so I love this song. When I worked in a school last year as a speech therapist, the Kindergarten students sang, “We want to be a part of it, first grade, first grade.” This was for their Kindergarten graduation. I sing this to my Mom and it makes her laugh. She is a fourth grade teacher.

4. “Angela” - Bob James

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DL8SGEyhZE

This is the theme from the show, “Taxi.” It reminds me of my maternal grandfather who passed away. He was a bus driver and the music reminds me of the swagger he had when he walked. Grandpa was a lot of fun.

5. “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” - Andrews Sisters

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8of3uhG1tCI

This song is a fun song that reminds me of my maternal grandmother who passed away. The singer in the center looks like my Grandma and I watch it to remember her. She was sweet.

6. “In The Mood” - Glenn Miller Band

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CI-0E_jses

This swing song reminds me of my paternal grandparents who passed away. This was their candle song at my sweet 16. My Nana liked to swing dance when she was young. They were very generous.

7. “Walk This Way” – Aerosmith

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UFFa1HbFfA

This song reminds me of my Uncle Roy and cousin John who passed away. They liked to have a good time and were fun people.

8. “Our Song” – Taylor Swift

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb2stN7kH28

This song reminds me of my guardian angel Patrick who I love very much.

9. “Work From Home”- Fifth Harmony

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GL9JoH4Sws

This song makes me happy because I am a speech therapist working from home. I enjoy it because my students are sweet. I like to create materials (stories) to work on with them.

10. “Worth It”- Fifth Harmony

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GL9JoH4Sws

This song makes me feel empowered and reminds me to never underestimate my worth. I feel that, “Worth It” inspires confidence.

11. “Work” - Iggy Azalea

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zR6ROjoOX0

This song encourages me to work hard, even when you start from the bottom. You should always try to succeed.

12. “Can’t Help Falling In Love” – Elvis Presley

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlrNxJqODBc

I love Elvis, and I love this song! I want this to be my wedding song someday.

13. “Landslide”- Fleetwood Mac

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM7-PYtXtJM

This is a song that my mother and I enjoy. She used to play this song when I was little when she did her exercises. It was also her candle song for my sweet sixteen. This song is about growing older and finding the strength to move on.

14. “Lollipop”- The Chordettes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rYoRaxgOE0

This is a sweet song that my Dad used to sing to me when I was little. He would sing the song and I would start dancing.

15. “Freebird”- Lynyrd Skynyrd

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LwcvjNJTuM

This song is about being a free spirit, just like me and everyone in my family. I like to think of a Phoenix flying away when I hear this song. I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert with my Dad back in 2018, and four guitars were playing the ending sequence of notes at once. It was great!

These songs bring back great memories, and I find them to be inspiring to listen to when I need motivation or comfort. I hope that you have enjoyed them too!
