'Make This Moment Last' by Jim Gaven

This live version of an original song, 'Make This Moment Last', was captured using an iMac in 2008 while I was living in New Hampshire for a brief period. As you can see from the footage, it is a little grainy. However, this was a brand new mainframe computer which captured the best it could at that time. Written about someone I was dating between 2005 and 2008, I thought this was the person I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with. It is a song about the feelings you might have for that special someone where you never want the time spent with them to come to an end. Have you ever felt like that? It is an amazing feeling. To me, it's nothing short of what eternity might be like--feeling at peace with everything and everyone for years and years to come. It is my belief that there is no concept of time in eternity, so one moment may actually be 1000 years.

At any rate, the lyrics dive deeper into the story of this song and do a way better job explaining the feelings I described above.

My favorite parts of the song are the Chorus and the Ending sections. The chorus: ‘Time to think about the future, forget about the past / Time to figure out a way to make this moment last’ spoke to me. If we can not worry about the future but think of it in a happy, hopeful, positive way, there’s no way to feel anxious about it. If we are able to forget the negative parts of the past or at least not dwell on them, there’s no way to feel or be in a state of depression. And, if we figure out how to make every moment last in our lives, then the past, present, and future will all be in alignment with one another, creating the best outlook on life. It is by looking at life through a different lens which allows us to be at peace with everyone and everything around us. Once we are able to do this, we can experience happiness and joy amidst the chaos and craziness of the world.
