Book Release December 2022

I am excited to announce the new book release of the biography of Joan Spalding Canadian Country Musician and Nashville Recording Artist. As Co-Author of the book, I thought I would give some insights to it.

Joan asked me to work on her story with her after an interview we did together, and I was more than happy to. The pandemic was still on, and we began this project online and despite the occasional computer glitches and internet failings in my world, we continued it that way until its fruition in just under a year's time. It was a wonderful experience to co-write. I found her story fascinating and getting to know her this way was a pleasure.

The book is part narrative. This makes the reader feel like they are right there listening to her tell her story. Joan has a friendly and sometimes candid way of expression and she kept to the topic of the music aspects. Raised in a musical family it was natural for her to evolve creatively. That kind of encouragement is a great example for any person to reach their goals.

As we shaped the work there was a gradual realization of the importance of some of these tales. Why they stand out is because she was groomed by some of the greats, the actual pioneers of the Country music industry, like Gary Buck and Howard Walker to name a couple. There are not many biographies that hold these memories. In one tale she describes her first trip to Nashville. She was there when what would become one of the leading country music production companies was just starting out. One of their top recording artists and country heartthrobs introduced himself while painting the picket fence on the company grounds. How great is that!

She grew her career in a time where there were few women achieving such accomplishments and it took a brave heart to take those steps. She is honest about the setbacks and the successes and there are great career highlights, including songs that made top of the charts in Europe.

CLOSE TO YOU, SONG by Joan Spalding, This is one of my favs.

What really shines is the amount of hard work. It really gets it across to someone who might be considering a music career, that it's a lot of hard work in this industry. With thousands of performances over several decades, from hometown shows, to television, tours, to recording records in Nashville and more.

Joan Spalding is a member of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, has won several contests and awards and also received the medal from Purple Hill Opry, the Canadian version of the Grande Ol Opry. She did Facebook Lives every single day of the pandemic. Joan still does live performances, online shows and plans on returning to the recording studio.

Joan's work is timeless. She has a huge fan base that started when everything that grew was from grass roots. She has maintained this following, and her music is reaching new fans and supporters. Any age reader will enjoy this book. It's a light read with a lot of breadth. Available worldwide. It is inspiring - your dreams can come true.
