The God MC, Jayhova, JAY-Z has had a few missteps in his artistic career (mentioning the sun revolving around the earth) and in his business life (the property he missed out on in Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass [DUMBO]) but his whole experience has proven to be the greatest among all other rappers.

That is why he says boldly that no one can see him on the Verzuz stage. He is so focused on his achievements in the game including a recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The couplets, the metaphors, the wordplay, the confidence all coalesce to create a rapper of supreme skill. With thirteen studio albums, all of them platinum, he has proven to be critically acclaimed and commercially viable.

In his life, JAY-Z has been able to pick what he wants to do based on his own integrity. No labels wanted to sign him? Cool, he formed his own. Everyone wants advances and royalties? JAY considered publishing and owning master recordings.

The reason why the hip hop force can deny such platforms as Verzuz but, still respect the business model, is because he is a Builder and a Titan according to TIME magazine. Far from just being another rapper spitting vowels into the air, JAY-Z has positioned himself to be the decider in all things regarding his career and existence.

It’s no disrespect to anyone to say he wishes to turn down the hottest ticket on the Web. His acumen is always geared towards making quality music, overseeing a portfolio of businesses including champagne, cigars, and marijuana.

His billions came from him knocking on tables and blasting boom boxes in between completing crack sales in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York, among other locales. That same hustler’s ambition drove him to rewrite the narrative that he’d be dead at twenty-one.

At fifty-two, the hunger for being the best and most consistent rapper of all time appears to be in his DNA. He is riding on the carpet of success with his storytelling abilities, skills in making other rappers better, and it also plays a part in his decision to forgo the Verzuz stage.

As the lesser artists fill up the roster, he still sees highlights in the order of rappers. Jadakiss’ outstanding performance this past summer he praised. With the competitive nature of rap, he has allowed himself to be the one that can’t be touched…yet.

For different reasons, in the video game NBA Live 98, Michael Jordan was not featured. In subsequent games he appeared. As the Michael Jordan of the rap game, JAY may make it apparent he could take a surprise turn such as his mash up with Linkin Park in Collision Course.

If what takes place is actual, then JAY may just be the hottest ticket. It’s not narcissism for him to say no one can see him on that stage. He has earned his bragging rights through a series of ideas on prison reform, generational wealth, and romantic love. This seemingly disparate collection of ideas all make sense in Hov’s world.

His wonderful calculations have produced in him the ability to appreciate art from Jean-Michel Basquiat and Rothko among others. His diverse raps have painted pictures in the minds of millions. In order for him to be this successful, he had to keep his backbone erect in the room full of industry mummies and creeps.

He has yet to fail in his honesty and understanding of individuals. So for him to deny the whole idea of putting himself out there in Verzuz is quite the boss move. It’s perfect for his career and for JAY the entrepreneur.
