About GOT7

They are a multinational K-Pop band with members from South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, and the US. They debuted with instant success. Their first EP, “Got It?”, made it to number 1 on the Billboard World Albums Chart. Their music style has changed over the years. Their earlier performances had martial arts tricks and b-boying. However, for the last couple of years, their sound has been a combination of Pop and R&B, as the various members became more involved in the song-making process. The group left JYP in 2021 after their contract expired. Still, the group has consistently assured their fans that GOT7 is here to stay. They have made two mini-albums since their departure from the company, while individually pursuing their careers in music, acting, and fashion.

Song That Caught My Attention: “Just Right”

I was looking for a group that had similar vibes to BTS. I then came across multiple videos of the member Jackson. He was hysterical with his antics on different reality programs. It made me want to give GOT7 a listen, and I am glad I did. I started with the song “Just Right.” It was quirky and fun. I also liked that it had a positive message: you are perfect just the way you are. I vibed so much with this song that I decided to go down the rabbit hole and listen to other songs by them.

Why I Love GOT7

Their music combines two of my favorite genres, Pop and R&B, to make a unique sound of their own. It is rare for me to like every single album and EP from a musical act, but GOT7 managed just that. I have bought numerous physical copies of their music that my budget allowed. Their music makes me happy and want to dance, especially during the dark parts of my life. Plus, I love their interactions with each other. They are one of the few groups that I truly believe get along with each other and are friends in real life. It is wholesome to see how they celebrate each other’s individual projects while also coming together to put out music for the fans. I look forward to seeing how they do in the future as they mature and perfect their individual crafts more.

Favorite Song: “Lullaby”

A musical act has no obligation to make multiple languages available for a song. However, GOT7 did just that by having Korean, English, Mandarin, and Spanish versions of “Lullaby” released to celebrate their international fans. I can’t imagine trying to learn four languages. I thought it was a very cool and heartwarming thing to do. Also, the song is very catchy. I love bopping around to the song while singing my lungs out.
