Earlier this year, Ike Rhein released a hit song with Luh Kel titled, "Messed It Up." The single has accumulated about 500,000 streams, and the music video has eclipsed one million views. Building on the success of the record, Ike Rhein is back with an acoustic version of "Messed It Up." The acoustic version of "Messed It Up" brandishes heavenly piano chords from KMKZ and is slowed down to accentuate Sogimura's production and Ike Rhein's powerful, emotive vocals.

"Messed It Up" details how hindsight is 20/20. The record is about longing to change something about yourself in order to belong with someone else, but realizing that the whole thing was just a misunderstanding in your head. "Messed It Up" is about taking a failed relationship, turning it into a learning experience, and reflecting on yourself. "There will always be a chance to find love or 'the one,' if you will." Ike Rhein continues, "The hardest part is that sometimes you’ll never know if someone is right for you until you realize someone was wrong for you."

The acoustic version of "Messed It Up" was mixed and mastered by multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated Vinny DeLeon. The release serves as almost a teaser for his upcoming track, "Violin." "Violin" drops next week on Friday, April 22nd. The record will be released alongside an epic, breathtaking music video. Stay tuned, but for now, put both versions of "Messed It Up" on repeat and decide which is your favorite!

Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?

My upbringing has definitely played a role. Coming from foster care to being adopted at age 11, I had a lot of early pain. The pain that I've had has really helped me become a better artist, helped me write better lyrics, and to push to find my sound.

What ultimately inspired you to dedicate yourself to a music career?

I always heard the quote from Nelson Mandela that says, “There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” This quote really inspired me to reach my full potential - to not settle for anything less than the life I'm capable of living.

What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?

I've always had the passion for music. I believe that music is a common language for all. It doesn't matter what race, religion, language - it just doesn't matter. Everyone can connect through music. This has always inspired me to continue my craft.
