How Justin Bieber Fights Injustice by Making Music

Justice officially became Justin Bieber’s eighth album to enter directly to #1 on Billboard’s Top 200. Released last March 19, Justice not only reached first place on the Top but simultaneously earned the Gold Record mark in the US.

Here, in Portugal, the single “Peaches” reached #1 on Spotify. The new song is also trending on the Youtube Music category with the official video ranking high on the overall top of most-watched videos in the country — after having reached #1 in the Music category.

First-week results

During the first week after release, the album Justice reached 435 million streams on digital platforms worldwide—the single “Peaches” feat. Giveon & Daniel Caesar reached #1 on Spotify’s “Global Song” top and Apple Music’s ranking of most played tracks, with over 100 million streams. In one week alone, all Justin Bieber’s videos, performances, and content on YouTube added more than 70 million views.

Justice includes other worldwide hits such as "Holy" feat. Chance The Rapper, "Lonely" feat. Benny Blanco, "Anyone" and "Hold On," which together amassed over three billion streams worldwide, dominating radio airplay with over 215 million in the US alone. The songs alone have accumulated the equivalent of 400,000 albums in the US and over 1.3 million albums worldwide.

The life of the party

According to Elle magazine, Bieber, 27, organized a private party in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of his new album at the trendy restaurant The Nice Guy, thus paying little attention to the ongoing restriction in place regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. Justin's wife, Hailey Bieber, and Kendall, and Kylie Jenner attended the event. The singer had already caused controversy in recent months by ignoring other COVID-19 official health measures.

Justin is a Justice 'Belieber'

The "JUSTICE" campaign reaffirmed Justin's important role on the music scene: with his return to the stage in the New Year's Eve livestream supported by T-Mobile; the record-breaking performance on TikTok, "Journals Live from the drew house"; the Augmented Reality performance that took place on Spotify; the performance at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards; and the NPR Tiny Desk Concert.

In the spirit of the Justice theme, Justin has teamed up with Propeller - the digital platform that works at the intersection of culture and social good - to raise awareness and generate support for organizations doing important work around justice and reconciliation.

Nonprofits that will benefit from the campaign include Alexandria House, Anti-Recidivism Coalition, Baby2Baby, The Compton Pledge, Equal Justice Initiative, Lift Communities, Poor People's Campaign, Self Help Graphics & Art, The King Center, and This Is About Humanity.

Final considerations

With over 75 billion streams and over 70 million albums sold worldwide, Justin continues to gather fans worldwide and all the gossip and polemic only strengthens his exponential growth. Meanwhile, Bieber is the #1 artist on YouTube with over 60 million subscribers worldwide and has broken Spotify's global records with over 65 million monthly listeners.

Justin also released a deluxe version of Justice, with guest appearances from Lil Uzi Vert, Jaden Smith, Quavo, Da Baby, and Tori Kelly. These artists join guests who were already part of the original lineup, namely Giveon & Daniel Caesar, The Kid LAROI, Dominic Fike, Khalid, Beam, Chance The Rapper, Benny Blanco, and Burna Boy.
