1. ‘Yes’ | RAYN

Sydney Songstress RAYN (Photo: RAYN)

2019 has been a big year for Sydney based musician RAYN, with the release of her second single, 'Yes' following 'OMM' released earlier this year (as you would've seen in Friday's Five at 5!).

The two songs come in preparation for her long awaited EP release, Serotonin, and both tracks will feature on it. Her latest release 'Yes' brings something new from her last song, with even more sensual, sultry sounds, leaving you in a trance.

The whole song will send shivers straight down into your soul, with RAYN's vocals captivating you through her extremely mature, profound lyrics. The stunning guitar riffs and instrumental section is sure to get your head swaying, and is the perfect song for a night in (I listened to it on repeat making dinner!).

RAYN is different, has a unique sound, and something the music industry is honestly lacking. I'm a huge fan, so hop in it before she blows up!

Can't wait to see more from RAYN, which I am sure we will very shortly.

Check out RAYN below.

2. ‘Dream State’ | Lanstan

Sydney-Based Hip Hop Artist Lanstan (Photo: Lanstan Music)

Looking at the cover art before you listen to the song, you'll basically get the feel of what this song feels like to listen to. Except add some fireworks and lasers and cool pizzas flying around the place amongst the stars. A whole journey, just like this track.

It really is incredible. It takes you on a journey, from a low key hip hop vibe straight into a trance rap vibe, offering versatile, chilled vibes feels for any occasion.

"Drowning in dark melodies and introspective lyrics, Lanstan's style is hard to be defined."

Lanstan's EP is dropping NEXT WEEK, so stay tuned for that!

Thank you as always to Ritzz (who OG readers will have seen before on Friday's Five at 5) for the sweet recommendation.

3. ‘LOST’ | Deinoil James

Aussie Singer Deiniol's Debut Single (Photo: Deinoil James)

The slick vocals of Deinoil Chynoweth (a.k.a Deinoil James) has graced us, with his first single 'LOST' being released out into the world.

'LOST' serves acoustic, chilled vibes with a lo-fi beats trance as the song progresses. The emotion that comes through in the vocals is reflective of the lyrics, and the song is really well produced and put together.

The song features Joseph Scott and Elijah Provido who laid down the beats and sweet guitar sounds, with the whole thing feeling like a real heart bleeding tune.

Here's hoping Deinoil keeps releasing music, because it's great stuff! Thanks to Sams for the request; you rock!

4. ‘Training Grounds’ | Jimmy Whelan

The Magnificent Saxophonist Jimmy Whelan (Collage Art: Talya Jacobson)

Something a little different from what's featured in Friday's Five at 5 recently, an instrumental track! I love listening to instrument-only tunes, especially when they come from someone as talented as Jimmy Whelan.

This Sydney-based saxophonist released his latest track 'Training Grounds' following his 2017 album The Northern Gate. And boy, does it take you on a journey.

This is the exact kind of music that relaxes me yet excites me at the same time. I could play it to fall asleep to, or on a rainy Saturday morning, or even stuck in a traffic jam in my car and it would be so good that I wouldn't even be frustrated about the traffic; I'd be so entranced by the sultry sounds of saxophone.

Even if you don’t normally listen to instrumental tracks, give Jimmy a crack. You won't regret it.

Catch Jimmy out and about on the Sydney music scene! Thanks to my best bae Nada-Leigh Nasser for the suggestion (another INCREDIBLE voice y'all need to hear).

Check out Jimmy below.

5. ‘Damn Loyal’ | Eves Karydas

Brisbane Superstar Eves Karydas (Photo: Eves Karydas)

Last but certainly not least, a request from the one and only BIRTHDAY GIRL herself, Friday's Five at 5 OG reader and supporter Olivia! She has been asking for us to feature Eves for a long time, so here we are girl! Happy birthday!!

I chose this song as it featured on Olivia's Spotify 2019 top songs, and it is SUCH a good song.

Okay - so Eves. Yes, yes, YES!

Her voice, her vibes, her everything. Her debut album summerskin was released last year featuring song like this week's feature 'Damn Loyal', and banger 'Further Than The Planes Fly', which has over 14 million streams on Spotify!

This song itself shows just how mature this young artist is, professionally telling her story through thought-provoking lyrics, catchy melodies and smooth vocals.

Overall, this is a FANTASTIC album, and if you're looking for something new to listen to this weekend, this is it! (Or anything else from any Friday's Five at 5 ever; haha!)

Catch Eves in Melbourne for NYE On the Hill and then in Sydney for Field Day 2020.

So yes - THANK YOU Olivia for the request, and a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!

Check out Eves below.

That's all from me, I hope you've enjoyed this week's Friday's Five at 5! PLEASE read and share to your hearts content as it helps me a LOT, and more importantly LISTEN TO THE ARTISTS!
