1. "How We Wanted It" | Camryn Leigh Smith

Young Singer Camryn Leigh Smith (Photo: Camryn Leigh Smith)

With a range of acoustic tunes released this year alone, Camryn Leigh Smith is surely putting herself out there and showing off her incredible talents.

This young singer-songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia really knows how to write good songs, along with a voice that will put you into a therapeutic state of relaxation and leave you wanting more.

Her latest release, 'How We Wanted It' is a beautifully composed piece and sounds very professionally produced. Her angelic voice couples with the gorgeous acoustic-electric guitar vibes, and the lyrics are hard-hitting, raw and emotional.

Camryn also posts cover videos on her Instagram account and can be seen on IGTV!

Check it out below.

2. "Kick" | Greta Stanley

Indie Folk singer Greta Stanley (Photo: @bridies.journal)

As the sixth most played artist on Triple J Unearthed in 2018, Greta Stanley is one to look out for.

Her relatable songwriting and gorgeous voice won her the Billy Thorpe Scholarship at the Queensland Music Awards, and has seen her share stages with the likes of The Rubens, Ziggy Alberts, Boy & Bear and festivals such as Groovin' The Moo and Pineapple Fields opening for Tash Sultana.

She tackles themes of heartache and the challenges of transitioning from youth into adulthood in her music and has recently released her new EP, Sun In My Eyes.

"A triumph. Exquisite vocals, hard-hitting themes… the songs flow beautifully, and it’s all held together by a voice that seems born to make you feel something.”—The AU Review

One song from the EP on heavy rotation is 'Kick'; a song about breaking down when things get too much. It's relatable, catchy, and melodically beautiful.

I personally really love listening to Greta Stanley and I hope you will too!

Check her out now!

3. "Drama Queen" | Sayah

Electro-Pop Singer SAYAH (Photo: SAYAH)

My first thought when listening to this song: "Ooft! What a voice! What a bop!"

And honestly, I've had the same thought every time I've listened to the song.

Her electro-soul vibes and lush vocals have drawn comparisons to Banks and Jorja Smith.

'Drama Queen' is low-key with cool riffs and sassy vibes. Also, as a drama queen myself the lyrics speak to me.

“I became so used to conflict that when I was happy I thought something was wrong, so I’d self-sabotage. That’s when I realised I was being little bit of a drama queen,” SAYAH said in a recent The Music interview.

One Triple J reviewer said, "You can't not bop to this…" and I agree. This song is going to be stuck in my head all weekend.

Thank you as always to Alexandra Younes for your amazing support and for this recommendation!

4. "Give It Up" | Mollie Ralph

Soul-Folk Singer from Nottingham, UK Mollie Ralph (Photo: Mollie Ralph)

To say Mollie Ralph's voice is unique is an understatement, and the way she has modernised soul elements in her music is truly beautiful.

If there was a voice that resembled that of Amy Winehouse or Etta James nowadays, Mollie's would be it. Just wow.

A soulful, talented writer, her music will transcend you into another world, and "Give It Up" recommended by longtime Friday's Five at Five reader Tom will without a doubt make you feel all the feels.

The song gives ode to traditional soul music with a powerful horns section accompanying Mollie's powerful vocals alongside mesmerising piano riffs.

Her debut EP Old Café was released earlier this year (on my birthday, actually!) and deserves a good listen to. Probably on repeat.

Again, just wow. Mollie Ralph will be someone I'll be listening to from now on in my day-to-day life.

Check out Mollie Ralph now!

5. "Butterfly Rain" | Tori Templet

Texas Singer-Songwriter Tori Templet (Photo: Tori Templet)

Another amazing recommendation from Alex, this wonderful student artist is bringing nothing but joy to others with her incredible voice and writing talents.

Texan singer-songwriter Tori Templet released her latest single 'Butterfly Rain' last month produced alongside Nashville producer Jordan Mitchell, and it truly is a beautiful song.

Tori's aesthetic matches the sound she creates as seen in a range of dreamy bluey-pink images on her website. If I were to try to describe her sound to someone, these photographs would be how I'd do it!

In an interview with the Baylor Lariat, Tori speaks about being a student artist and chasing your dreams.

"If you know what you’re passionate about, run with it. Keep writing, keep chasing you dream. Stick with it even if there are roadblocks. It can be hard as a college student to sit in class knowing that you don’t need a degree to pursue what you want to do with your life. Be patient."

Kudos to you Tori for pursuing your passion; student life is hard (as most of us know), and you are doing amazing things.

Check out Tori now!
