"Moves" | Ritzz

Ritzz has made the Friday's Five at 5 line up again releasing an absolute bop today (yes, today!) featuring MVNK. "Moves" is sure-fire to get you up and grooving with the catchy chorus hook and so many cool little sounds that makes the song pop.

"It's something different and I love it"

In comparison to Ritzz's other releases this year, "Moves" definitely falls more along the techno-dance lines, yet is somewhat jazzy due to the trumpets on the track. It's unlike anything I've heard and honestly, its pretty brilliant.

This is Ritzz's SIXTH single this year, which is insane considering how much work he puts into producing these tracks. I was lucky enough to be around interviewing Ritzz while he was working on another new release "The Interlude," also featuring MVNK. It’s a minute long, and it's so fun.

All I can say is I am a huge supporter of what this guy is doing, and chances are, he's going to go pretty far in the electronic music scene, so check him out!

"Standout" | Angie McMahon

Okay okay okay. I'm excited. Angie McMahon released her long awaited debut album Salt last week, featuring well-known tracks such as "Keeping Time," "Slow Mover" and "Pasta". To say this album is a beautiful compilation of meaningful lyrics and melodies that make your heart hurt would probably be the best way to explain it, and honestly it's more than us Angie fans could've hoped for. Some of the new songs including "Soon," "Push" and "Play The Game" have been my own personal favourites as well as fan favourites, however (and I think you know where this is going…) "Standout" was definitely a standout.

This beautiful and euphoric acoustic tune delves into a painful breakup, and you can really hear the pain and almost confusion in her voice. Whether or not Angie writes these songs based on her own personal experiences or not I'm not sure, but either way I just want to give her a huge hug.

"I don't want someoneI don't want someoneI wanted you"

Angie has been playing shows in the US and will make a quick stopover to Ireland as well as Budapest for Sziget—one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe (a huge achievement for our Aussie girl!)—before heading back home for the I Made An Album Australian Tour in October.

Thank you for making the music you do Angie.

If you haven't heard Salt yet, I suggest you get your hands on either a hard copy—available here—or have a listen over on Spotify!

"Bedroom" | Closure

Sydney band Closure (Credit: Closure Sydney)

New Sydney post-hardcore band Closure has released their debut single "Bedroom," with vocalist Lucy May giving off serious Hayley Williams vibes.

Taking inspiration from Trophy Eyes and American pop punk band Belmont, these young newcomers are really kicking their way into the industry, probably in Dr. Martens, which I love. The powerful vocals and groovy guitars on this track make you want to dance, and is something that I could hear being played at an AM//PM event in the future.

The band have just come off the back of supporting Belle Haven on their Australian tour and have featured on Triple J's Short.Fast.Loud hosted by Joshua Merriel.

Looking forward to seeing what these guys have to come!

"Don't Assume" | THE DM SZN

R&B Hip Hop Group THE DM SZN (Credit: THE DM SZN)

This Sydney-based group is making waves in the R&B/Hip Hop scene, with the four solo artists transforming into one single unit: THE DM SZN. The group's EP Vol. 1 was released in June, featuring groovy tracks "From a Distance" and "Y U Gotta," alongside "Don't Assume," requested by Friday's Five at 5 reader (and featured artist) Lolli.

"Don't Assume" brings something different to the EP and is not what you would expect from a R&B Hip Hop group. The soothing piano tune intrigues your ears, wanting to know what's coming next. This track really brings the best of 2000's R&B music together with modern compositional elements of today's more electronic music scene. The song picks up with Ruu's rap verse which is really encapsulated by the beautifully enchanting backing vocals by Annelise.

The group will be dropping a music video for their single "Foreign" and are hosting a release party on August 16 alongside other R&B Hip Hop artists at Valve Bar, Sydney. Tickets are available at the door, and I would definitely recommend going along for some groovy tunes and entrancing visuals.

"Make Out" | Julia Nunes

Last but most certainly not least, Friday's Five at 5 presents to you Julia Nunes.

This cool and quirky New York singer-songwriter brings captivating vocals and thought provoking lyrics to the music world. A girl who used to play the ukulele on YouTube is now playing sold-out house shows and has toured with the likes of Ben Folds and A Great Big World, has performed with Weezer at Bonnaroo, and spoken at major music conference SXSW.

"Make Out," requested by Friday's Five at 5 reader Steph (a.k.a. Jane Haig) is a beautifully catching tune which I can feel myself listening to on a drive or on the bus, however I doubt I'd be able to sit still. The song was released on Julia's 2015 Album Some Feelings, and she has since released her new EP, UGHWOW.

"UGHWOW is a consistent line in my internal monolog, it’s frustration or exhilaration or contentment or sorrow or surprise depending on the day."

Here's hoping this beautiful soul comes down under soon, but for all you US readers, stay tuned for upcoming shows!

That's all from me, hope you've enjoyed this week's Friday's Five at 5! PLEASE read and share to your hearts content as it helps me a LOT, and more importantly LISTEN TO THE ARTISTS!
