FreshGrass Foundation is the world of music activities where American roots music is produced and supported. The Foundation is keeping the motive of creating the new quality of roots music, while embracing and celebrating its past.

FreshGrass is the foundation in which innovative grassroots music is created by famous music artists and musicians of different genres from different places, and then perform their piece of work in the FreshGrass Festivals. This is the one that manages to celebrate the great FreshGrass festivals at Mass Moca, which people wait for the whole year. These are the most awaited festivals organized by the FreshGrass Foundation where the amazing guitarists and banjo players present the amazing collection of traditional and cutting-edge American roots music.

The foundation of a music organization was done to organize a great level of music exhibitions where many musicians participate and present their heart melting roots music with their melodious voices. They preserve, support, and create innovative grassroots music, and help to push roots music forward while also embracing and celebrating its past.

This foundation also celebrates amazing award festivals to reward the deserving and amazing music artists who have given their best in all the music genres, and to the roots music. The organization organizes the most awaited music festivals of all time, and then rewards musicians by giving awards, providing FreshGrass Album fund to the deserving and amazing music artists who have given their best in all the music genres, and to the roots music.

Along with producing, preserving, and supporting music and celebrating the award ceremonies and music festival, this foundation also renders services like sharing the important information about roots music, and its issues under the music journal named No Depression, which is also published by FreshGrass foundation. FreshGrass awards are said to be the most generous of all kind.

The famous music artists perform and present their masterpieces in the FreshGrass Festival at Mass Moca, and also support the music funding services and public services such as Album fund, and silent film scores being run by the FreshGrass Foundation. Sarah Jarosz is the folk music artist, and also the Grammy award winner. She is one of the most famous folk music artists and her multi-instrumental fourth record, Undercurrent, won best folk album in 2016, and one of its tracks, "House of Mercy," triumphed in the best American roots performance category.

Bill Frisell, who is the first explorer of the American roots music traditions, from jazz to blues and so on, he was regarded as the most innovative guitarist. Frisell created music masterpieces from 30-40 minutes, which can either end up at 90 Minutes.

Rachel Chanoff, is the artistic advisor, consultant, and chief of FreshGrass. Click on the APPLY TO THE ALBUM FUND button below. You will be asked to register with Submittable, which involves entering your contact information and choosing a username and password.

Fill out the online application. You can save it and return to it as often as needed until you are ready to submit. There are three parts to the grant submission request: (1) the basics and overview of the band/artist; (2) the details and samples (unmastered is fine) of the new album, and; (3) the grant request amount and details of the financial budget.

Note: To be considered, you will need to include some, or ideally all, of the tracks of the new proposed album (audio upload, audio link, or video link) in some form (mastered or unmastered) as part of the application. FRESHGRASS IS NOT BASING ITS GRANT DECISION ON THE QUALITY OF THESE RECORDINGS; FreshGrass just needs to get a feel for the project through the music. Rough cuts, living room sessions, etc. are all acceptable. FreshGrass will not use submitted samples for any purpose other than grant selection.

After submission, FreshGrass will generally take 4-6 weeks to review the project. You will be contacted if any additional information is needed, and with a grant determination after FreshGrass has completed its review
