ECLECTIC MIX MAY 2022

The tracks filling my head space this month

Welcome one and all, for herein lies another monthly tour through the playlist which has been filling my ears. May has been a bit of a hit and miss weather wise. We’ve had the odd day of fine weather, and late sunny afternoons, but still not the warm summer we’d all love. On the flipside the days have gotten a lot longer. You wake up and it’s bright (which helps put a little more spring in the step) and the daylight extends well into the evenings. So, the signs are there, hopefully the summer is just around the corner. So, this playlist is semi-reflective of this varied-ness in the weather and being honest is probably the most eclectic one I’ve made in quite some time. So, I hope you enjoy!

For anyone who isn’t aware of how this works by now or is new to my playlist’s. They are extremely eclectic. This month’s is no different, you could be enjoying an 80’s B-side by the police one second, an early 2000’s dance classic the next, and then onto a classic by the Beatles. Rock and Roll, Grim, Dance, Trance, Rap, 80’s, 90’s, alternative, electronic and a few more genres are all on display here. A special mention should be made to Vangelis who sadly passed away this month. Very bizarrely one of his songs, was suggested to me on my weekly discover on Spotify. Less than 2 weeks later it was breaking in the news he’d died. He was a famous musician, with a 50-year career, and was most notable for his movie soundtracks he produced. Chariots of Fire, Blade Runner and Alexander being some of his biggest. I have included his song with Jon Anderson also on the accompanying YouTube playlist, so definitely check that out.

As always, I can appreciate some of these playlists can be very long, this one clocks in at 3 hours and 12 minutes. So below I’ve compiled a YouTube compilation of song’s that stand out to me, and that I think you should hear, if you don’t have time to listen to the full playlist.

Talk Talk – Happiness Is Easy

Layo & Bushwacka! – Love Story Vs Finally

Childish Gambino – Redbone

Marsh – My Stripes

The Police – Darkness

This month’s list features The Police, Roxy Music, Talk Talk, The The, The Bucketheads, Layo & Bushwacka!, Afro Medusa, Jon & Vangelis, The Glove, Jean-Luc Ponty, Jeff Beck, Stonebridge, Funkstar De Luxe, Room5, The Blue Nile, Andreas Vollenweider, Silicone Soul, Philipp Wolf, Nils Hoffmann, D-Nox, The Durutti Column, Goldtrix, Mint Royale, Andrew Gold, Jax Jones, AJ Tracey, Fred Falke, Scuba, Ben Bohmer, Marsh, Wayward, Jon Anderson, Luces, The Beatles, Childish Gambino, Elvis Presley and Arcade Fire. As previously stated, it’s eclectic as they come! This list is for listening to anytime really (well I would say that as it’s my list) but is probably best enjoyed loudly or with a good set of headphones on. So, until next month, be safe, and take care of one another.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the music, and don’t forget how important music is. Afterall its the soundtrack to your life!!!
