Drake is currently the most popular and most streamed artist on the planet. He just was honored for getting 50 billion streams and he’s also gone platinum quite a few times as well. For some reason he always ends up leading the pack rather hip-hop scholars agree or not. What’s most interesting about Drake is his fanbase and their opinions of other more accomplished artists in comparison to Drake. Rather or not they have the facts of the other artists’ tenure it doesn’t matter to them they disrespectfully promo the leader of “OVO” even if it’s complete foolishness.

Drake’s fans have went has far as saying he’s the best artist to ever touch a microphone excluding nobody. I personally do like some of Drake’s music I’ve even taken a female friend of mine the “Nothing was The Same Tour” when it came to the Auburn Hills, Michigan at “The Palace” in December 2013. I have supported Drake over the years so I have every right to speak on this situation. His fans are the literally as deplorable as Trump supporters. I’ve been attacked for saying Drake is not my top five and I explained that Drake is not a better talent than Lil Wayne, The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, Jay-Z, Nas, Kanye West, 50 Cent, DMX, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, and just about any other legendary rap artist that had much stiffer competition than he has had to face. Though I admit that he’s the leader of the new school of rap artists without a shadow of a doubt because that’s absolutely true. Drake is loved many and he’s also hated by many because his fans are hellbent on diminishing the greatness of other artists that had it harder and accomplished more than he has though he’s no slouch himself. Tear others down to build Drake up is is his friends despicable strategy. He recently in 2018 loss a rap battle to Pusha T and his fans ducked the truth and used alternative facts just like Trump supporters it’s his fans that make people hate Drake.

Former member of the group Clipse Pusha T

For whatever reason Drake and Pusha T had a disagreement or misunderstanding that spilled into a rap battle of which Drake loss so badly that he refused to clap back again in fear that he would forfeit a substantial portion of his fan base to Pusha. Many hip-hop scholars counted that as cowardice because he would have responded to any artist that was not as lyrically skilled as Pusha T and I agree with that notion because he’s done it before. One time in particular is when a rapper from Philly and Drake had a dispute involving Nicki Minaj and Drake easily won that battle but he did not end Meek’s career. All the elite top five artists have ended a career or two with all bars Drake has never vanquished one MC. Drake fired at Pusha T saying that “he speaks as if he’s Pablo Escobar and only his hometown knows him” and that quote is paraphrased but that is the meat of Drake’s message in his diss song that he tailored for Pusha. I thought that Drake was going to make Pusha T tuck his tail with that song because Drake went hard on that noticeable diss song with slick wordplay but I underestimated Pusha. Rapper king of ringtones sales and Godfather of social media marketing “Soulja Boy Tell Em” or “Draco” exposed that Drake is very guilty of swagger jacking artists and not giving the artist credit and he’s done that to Soulja as well. Soulja provided examples of undeniable truth to substantiate his argument.

Soulja Boy on Legendary Breakfast Club Interview

In early 2019 the hall of fame morning radio show “Breakfast Club Am” hosted Soulja Boy on their show when he’d been down and not doing music because he was facing alot of personal and legal issues. While he was explaining how he had the best comeback of 2018 somehow Drake came into their conversation. Soulja Boy was appalled he stood up in disbelief and give and birth to the hilarious and iconic meme that can be easily found on Google or any gif button he said “Drakeeeeeee.” All the hosts of the breakfast club started laughing because of his utter disgust with Drake he couldn’t believe they brought him into their conversation. He went on to say that Pusha T bodied Drake in their battle and spoke on some of Drake’s personal matters that I will not shed light on because no child deserves to be dragged for the woes of their parents. The hosts of the show did not disagree with Soulja Boy but they also did not make a big deal out of what he said that was true about Drake. And that could be bias because iheart plays Drake’s music non-stoppeded iheart radio owns the “Breakfast Club Am” show. Drake has strong and very rich backing from Birdman & J Prince and they keep him protected and afloat and it’s no secret. None of the greatest artists had that type of protection from the wolves of the music industry like Drake another reason why he’s not in the top 10 of any true hip-hop scholars. Even with all of this evidence Drake’s fans have continued to say that he’s the greatest of all-time.

Current Photo of Drake

Though I do not think Drake is a top 15 all-time artist because of originally issues, ducking Pusha T, and swagger jacking I think that he’s a dope artist overall that has dope songs. But his best songs are all featuring other artists. From the song “Fireworks” featuring the greatest female artist ever Mrs. Alicia Keys-Deen to “Aston Martin Music” featuring Rick Ross Drake has always had help with his best work. Drake does not have a “Dear Summer”caliber song, he doesn’t have a “One Mic” caliber song, he doesn’t have a “Many Men” caliber song, and doesn’t have a “everyday I’m Hustling” caliber song not one. Drake’s best song is “Omertà” if he could maintain that quality and energy that he had on that track he’s easily top 10 but has never repeated that level of productivity again. The closest he has is “Started From the Bottom” but he did not start from the bottom he is a child star from suburban Toronto that was featured show on a Nickelodeon called “Degrassi.” Drake is not to blame for his cultish style fans but they are the reason he gets the hate and love that he does get and Drake does nothing to urge them to be more respectful and that’s very problematic.
