Dhrishyam - 2 The Resumption

The movie begins six years after the events of the first part. Georgekutty (Mohanlal) is now a successful businessman and a respected member of his community. His family includes his wife Rani (Meena), daughter Anju (Ansiba Hassan), and younger daughter Anu (Esther Anil).

One day, a young man named Varun (Kiran Raj) visits Georgekutty's office and threatens to expose the truth about the events that happened six years ago. Varun tells Georgekutty that he knows the truth about the accidental killing of the son of the IG (Inspector General of Police), Thomas Bastin (Murali Gopy).

Varun demands Rs. 5 crore from Georgekutty in exchange for his silence, threatening to reveal everything to the police and media otherwise. Georgekutty, who is reluctant to pay the money, tries to handle the situation in his own way.

Meanwhile, the police receive a complaint about Varun going missing, and the investigation begins. The police suspect that Georgekutty and his family are involved, and IG Thomas Bastin is determined to bring Georgekutty to justice.

As the investigation progresses, the plot thickens, and the truth becomes more elusive. Georgekutty realizes that Varun was trying to extort money from him, and he begins to investigate the case himself, using his sharp wit and intelligence to gather clues and evidence.

One of the major turning points in the movie comes when the police find a dead body on Georgekutty's property. The body is identified as that of Varun, and the police arrest Georgekutty and his family.

However, Georgekutty remains calm and collected, knowing that he can prove his innocence. He presents his case in court and proves that Varun was trying to extort money from him, and that he accidentally killed him in self-defense.

Georgekutty also presents evidence that the body was not on his property when the police searched it earlier, indicating that someone had planted it there to frame him. The court scene is filled with tension, and Mohanlal's performance is outstanding as he delivers his defense with poise and conviction.

Another major turning point in the movie is when Georgekutty reveals how he had hidden the dead body. He had chopped it into pieces and stored them in a freezer, which he then transported to a remote location and buried.

This scene is both chilling and captivating, as the audience realizes the extent of Georgekutty's intelligence and cunning. As the investigation continues, the plot twists and turns, with new evidence and revelations coming to light.

Georgekutty and his family are put through several emotional and psychological tests, with their relationships and loyalty being tested. Anju is put through a tough time as she is accused of being involved in the murder, which makes her suffer from mental health issues.

Rani, who is initially upset with Georgekutty for hiding the truth from her, eventually stands by him and helps him in his investigation. She also reveals that she had gone to meet Varun and had seen him blackmailing Georgekutty.

In the end, Georgekutty is able to prove his innocence and is acquitted of all charges. The movie ends with a powerful scene where Georgekutty confronts IG Bastin and tells him that he will always remain one step ahead of him.

Overall, "Dhrishyam-2" is a masterfully crafted movie, with several plot twists and turning points that keep the audience engaged and guessing until the very end.

The movie explores the themes of justice, morality, and the lengths people will go to protect their loved ones. Mohanlal's performance as Georgekutty is outstanding, and he carries the movie with his nuanced and layered portrayal of a man who will do anything to protect his family.

The movie also touches upon the issue of mental health, as Anju suffers from PTSD and depression due to the events of the first movie. This adds another layer of depth to the story, and the scenes where Anju struggles with her mental health are both heart-wrenching and thought-provoking.

One of the most impressive aspects of "Dhrishyam-2" is the way it weaves together the events of the first movie into its narrative. The movie is not just a sequel but also a continuation of the story, with the events of the first movie having a significant impact on the characters and the plot.

The cinematography and direction of the movie are top-notch, with the scenic beauty of Kerala being captured in all its glory. The background score is haunting and adds to the tension and suspense of the movie.

In conclusion, "Dhrishyam-2" is a must-watch movie for anyone who enjoyed the first part. The movie is a masterclass in storytelling and features outstanding performances by the cast. It explores several important themes and raises thought-provoking questions about morality, justice, and the lengths people will go to protect their loved ones.

The twists and turning points in the movie are expertly crafted, keeping the audience engaged and guessing until the very end. Mohanlal's performance as Georgekutty is nothing short of brilliant, and he once again proves why he is one of the greatest actors in Indian cinema.

Overall, "Dhrishyam-2" is a worthy sequel to the first movie and a testament to the power. It is a movie that will stay with you long after you have finished watching it, and it is definitely worth your time and attention.
