Justin Timberlake 20/20 Tour

The spotlight has once again been on Britney Spears lately thanks to the New York Times documentary that’s showcased the shady side of things going on in her circle, and it’s also brought a lot of negative attention to her long-time ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. In his earlier years he was a little ruthless when it came to airing out some of their dirty laundry, however if you really look back at it you realize he was only 21 and definitely feeling some kind of way from his first big break up with his teenage sweetheart.

I’m not saying that he should get a pass for dragging her a bit through the trenches, but it’s important to recognize that he has grown a lot since then. He’s no longer that cocky, youthful and careless individual that he was. He’s blossomed into a more mature, well rounded husband and father who has continued to learn from his past mistakes. He’s publicly apologized on IG to both Britney and Janet Jackson for how he did them dirty, and he really didn’t have to, but hey guess what…he did.

While people on social media continue to slander his good name, I’m here to tell you why he is still pretty great despite the ghosts of his past that continue to show up and haunt him 19 years later.

Justin is always giving back to his hometown of Memphis, TN and in October 2019 he and Levi’s Music Project worked together to donate a state-of-the-art songwriting lab to the Stax Music Academy. He stayed for two days to help students work on songs and watch a concert that they put on for family and friends inside the Stax Studio A. If you’re thinking that’s not enough for him to be great, fast forward to inauguration day 2021 when he once again took it back to Memphis for his performance of his song with Ant Clemons “Better Days” during the broadcast special “Celebrating America”. Not only did the performance take place inside of Stax Museum of American Soul Music, but he also included students in the performance from Stax Music Academy. It goes to show that Justin is all about letting others shine, and helping people succeed when he can.

During his Man of the Woods tour in January 2019 Justin responded to the request from kids at a children’s hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He spent the afternoon visiting kids in their rooms and posing for pictures. The patients, along with help from the staff at Methodist Children’s Hospital created a video titled “JT See Me!” requesting Justin to stop by and visit when he rolled into the city for his tour. The video at the time gained 35,000 views and managed to grab Justin’s attention resulting in the unforgettable visit.

There are many other examples to showcase JT being pretty great, but the number one reason that I can give everyone is that he truly is genuine and appreciative to all his fans. If you’ve ever attended one of his shows, then you know this to be the truest thing about him. Justin manages to make everyone feel seen and special when they go to one of his concerts. He takes it upon himself to give the ones who are “regulars” or part of the JT Fam some recognition. It’s obvious that he is very intuitive with the fan base and leaves you with an experience that you can hold onto for years to pass. To top it all off, he has taken numerous selfies with different audience members throughout his previous Man of the Woods tour.

At the end of the day Justin Timberlake is simply human just like the rest of us. He started out in the business as a 10-year-old when he starred on the Mickey Mouse Club and then had to grow up in front of everyone’s eyes during *NSYNC and through his solo career. We all had our not so proud moments when we were younger, and Justin had his too, unfortunately showcased for all to see. Now older and wiser we have watched him change and grow just like the rest of us. Overall, Justin is a pretty badass human being with a huge heart and respect for the ones who have stuck by him since day one. I say let the haters hate, his real fans know that he’s still pretty great!
