Contrary to popular suspicions, hip hop is not capitalistic. It is, however, about mercantilism and commercialism. This distinction must be made because the former concerns a social system of justice. It is rooted in the protection of individual rights and therefore property rights.

The latter two terms mainly deal with a facet of capitalism in that they relate to the production and consumption of goods, services, and ideas.

For legendary rapper Boosie, his role in the world of hip hop is as a certified entrepreneur. As a recording artist, he has produced music that has garnered millions of streams, he’s heavy on the path of being featured on various projects, and he has a mind for the camera as well.

The bonafide businessman has dropped movies in the past which he claims earned him at least a million dollars, independently. That’s with no studio and very little advertising. He has carved a path for him to win because he is relentless. He knows the game and can compete with any other filmmaker in his position.

From hustling in Baton Rouge to rising to the upper echelon of the rap game, Boosie has proven time and again that he is worthy of his rap statesmanship . With his latest project titled Water Boyz, he is ready to continue on his cinematic journey.

By making gritty, hard hitting hood films, Boosie is set to show others how to go outside of the studio system and forge their own projects.

After yet another ban on Instagram, Boosie took to Twitter to implore to his supporters, followers, and haters to promote the film with their own platforms. He seems sincere and a bit tired in the video. These are hallmarks of a man on a mission and poised to make as much money as he can from his creativity.

Already a self-anointed “reality-rapper,” Boosie has been in the music game for close to two decades. His fascination with offering works to his audience is what drives him and keeps him from getting involved with negativity.

With music and film, Boosie knows he can extend his thoughts onto the audio tracks and the film screens. For everything he does, there’s a distinction that he shows. The passion and bravado usually espoused by rappers is evident in him, tenfold.

Boosie brings the truth every time he is involved in a music project or film. He takes his work seriously and it shows. He extended his portfolio by even releasing a blues album in 2018. While some artists would balk at the idea of being a rapper and speaking the blues in the twenty-first century, Boosie did it anyway.

He has built up enough respect and credibility to keep his persona as comical, serious, playful, and focused all at once. With his rapport with DJ Vlad, he’s been able to channel his thoughts on the rap game into cohesive sound clips that elevate how interviewees should conduct themselves.

On his struggle to climb the heights of hip hop, he’s been able to be a thinker and a philosopher without a complete system, like most other rappers. His Water Boyz movie looks like it will share his aesthetic of grinding and hustling to get those material things and life.

Yet, that is apparent in the rap world. Hip hop artists ought to recognize that the jewelry, cars, homes, and clothes are all products of the mind. Boosie seems to be able to channel his imagination into anything that could be from his head and transferred into actuality.

To get past the hurdles, it sometimes takes that extra effort. Boosie appears to have given that little but more to get where he’s headed.
