Hi! I'm a songwriter and I express my feelings through music. It's hard for me to find the right words to say and I often don't know how to express what I'm thinking. This can make relationships difficult for me because I struggle to express my emotions. However, I'm grateful for music and its ability to let me express myself in a meaningful way.

Broken is a song that I wrote when I believed that finding love was impossible for me. The project as a whole delves into my past relationships and the emotions I experienced when I couldn't capture someone's attention. If you know this feeling, I hope this song and post can help you get through it. Remember that you are worth fighting for, and you are loved even when you struggle to see it.

The feeling of being loved is incredibly important to humans. I believe that we all have a desire to be loved and cannot live without it. Even if we don't like to admit it, humans are emotional beings. Our emotions can either help us thrive or cause us to wither away. They tend to control us, for better or for worse.

The chorus of this song, as written above, expresses my desire to feel true love. I long to find a love that is not shallow or empty. This is what many people would consider a fairy tale kind of love. But i believe it is achievable if we give our control over to Christ.

Begging you to stay the time is running out

Watching as the hand of the clocks count down

In the first verse of this song, I express how time appears to be slipping away in my search for something. Despite watching the clock's hands go around in circles, I see no progress being made. I feel like no matter what I say or do, I can never convince anyone to stay in my life. Does life truly lack meaning, and is it impossible to slow down time enough to find what you are searching for? These are all questions I was asking myself as I wrote this song. I never expected to have them answered, but sometimes answers come in the midst of confusion. Just keep searching, and you will find the answers you seek.

I look at the faces standing amongst the crowd

Looking in the mirror I see my scars

Reflections of my life everywhere I look

Broken pieces crashing to the floor

We tend to judge ourselves more harshly and focus on smaller flaws than we do with other people. When we look at ourselves in a mirror, why do we only see our imperfections? For me, it felt like my life was falling apart and there was nothing left for me to pick up. I couldn't stop focusing on the scars from past mistakes. This is not a fulfilling way to live life.

I just need a chance to turn away

From the poor choices that i make

Reflecting on the things that I’ve said

Every word I say I tend to regret

There is a valuable lesson to be learned from this verse. Often, we speak without fully considering the impact our words may have on others. In hindsight, we regret hastily spoken words. Therefore, I encourage you to be slow to speak and quick to listen. This practice can spare us from unnecessary pain in the future.

The message of my song is about brokenness, reflection, and longing. I never imagined I would find someone who could see beyond my broken pieces and love me for who I am. But as you may have noticed, the tense of my writing has changed from what is written in the song. When I stopped searching and surrendered my desires to Jesus, He showed me that there was a plan for my life and that He had created a special someone to show me the true meaning of love. So I hope that by listening to my song, you can see where you can let go of control and trust the process of finding real love.
