'She's Looks Horrible...'

'What a disgusting slab of beef...'

'You're obese.....you've eaten too much food...'

These words are enough to break a person...Imagine being in the spotlight and listening to them...every day....

Every ridicule, every comment, every statement leaves an indelible mark...

No other celebrity in the world has endured the kind of hatred that she has. Apart from being black, she was brutally trolled for being overweight. What was her response you ask? She blew everyone away by grabbing eight Grammy nominations in 2019 and eventually winning three of them. Today she is one of the leading voices on body positivity in the world. This is the story of Lizzo. A Rockstar. A Normal Person.

The reason why her story hit me so hard is that I kind of belong to the opposite end of the spectrum. In this world of gigantic muscles, six-packs and gigantic athletic bodies, I am a skinny brown guy who has been ridiculed for being a guy who looks like a 'stick.' I have grown tired of explaining to people that I am not malnourished; I just have a different metabolism rate. But I cannot even begin to imagine handling that ridicule on a global scale. Not only did she do it, she kicked butt while doing it, which is precisely why she's my hero.

Born as Melissa Viviane Jefferson in Detroit, Michigan, her family moved to Houston, Texas when she was only ten years old. At a very you age her father recognized her talent in music. Classically trained as a flautist since the tender age of twelve because of motivation from her father, she is one of the most powerful performers in the US, if not the world. She hit rock bottom when she lost her father at the age of 21 and was living in a car for some time. She had always faced insecurities and criticisms about her looks and body. Lizzo's music career started when she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2011, however, the highlight of her career was when she was featured with Prince in one of his songs in September 2014 and she never looked back.

She announced her arrival with the song Cuz I Love You which was certified gold by RIAA on Sep 9, 2019. Her first number-one hit on the Billboard 100 was Truth Hurts.

She loves her flutes and has even named them! One flute is named Shasha Flute and another one is called the Blue Ivy.......!!!!!

Apart from the Grammy awards, she has won 'NAACP Image Award for Entertainer of the Year,' 'NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Music Video,' 'Billboard Music Award for Top Song Sales Artist,' 'BET Award for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist,' 'NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Music Video,' 'iHeartRadio Music Award for Best New Pop Artist,' 'iHeartRadio Music Award for Song of the Year,' 'Soul Train Music Award for Video of the Year,' 'Soul Train Music Award for Album/Mixtape of the Year,'......IN THE SPACE OF ONE YEAR...!!!

After rocking the music stage, she made her debut in Hollywood via a small role in the movie 'The Hustlers' and has indicated that she would be open to more acting opportunities in the future. She has given her voice to the animated film Ugly Dolls. At one point she was also the host of the live music performance series Wonderland on MTV! All this by the person who was dubbed Too Ugly and Fat by the mainstream media when she started off!

Has she influenced my playlist? Yeah. Do I have new favorite songs because of her? Hell Yeah! But the most important impact that she has had is on the way I live my life. With my head held high, and without giving a f*ck about other's opinions..!!

Truth Hurts....Opinions Don't...!!!
