Artists and Songs

It's more than just a playlist

There isn't anything specific when it comes to relaxing but I do have some artists and songs that come to mind when I want to be "in the zone".

1) Bad Wolves. These guys are a more recent edition to my list but I enjoy every song they've made so far. My favorite is Learn to Walk Again, I have to listen to that song at least once whenever I'm on Spotify. It started when I heard them sing their song Zombie, I actually didn't believe that that was a cover song but it is but rather than me finding them, they found me and I took them in as one of my favorites.

2) My Chemical Romance. I may have started paying attention to them in the second half of the 2010s but their songs speak to me. I remember the first song I've ever heard from them, Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na), I believe it was nearing the end of summer, still in Middle School, and I was up just early enough when I turned on the TV and tuned in to MTV (back when they were still focused on music) and that song happened to play. I've never heard anything like it and it was the first time I ever heard of the band, when the song ended their name appeared, My Chemical Romance. Even though they're an emo band, they have a song that fits every mood. To cheer up - Famous Last Words, The World is Ugly. To dance - Planetary GO!, Boy Division. Throwback - I'm Not Okay (I Promise, The Ghost of You. They'll definitely be on my list for a long time and I'm glad I gave them another chance after all those years.

3) Skillet. I happened to have found this band on YouTube, when I was browsing. I was originally looking for things on the show Happy Tree Friends (don't ask why) and I found a video that featured their song Monster. After a couple of listens I looked for more of their songs and was hooked, to the point of buying their albums. Everything they made has a meaning.

They, along with the other bands I mentioned, are what I listen to to when I go to bed and at least one of their songs are always on my mind when I'm in the mood for music. But, there are some others worth mentioning that always put me at peace.

Marianas Trench. My friend introduced me to them in High School and I looked them up out of curiosity. I was trying to find one particular song but gave up after liking all their other songs including but not limited to: Desperate Measures, POP 101, All to Myself and One Love.

Disturbed. After listening to their song Down with the Sickness a few times I decided to listen to more of their music and now they're on my list. Favorites include Legion of Monsters, Liberate, Another Way to Die (this was the first song I heard from them) and If I Ever Lose My Faith in You.

Volbeat. I don't know much about them but their song For Evigt is a favorite of mine. I'll definitely be listening to more of them in the future.

A Day to Remember. I found them after hearing them cover Since You Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson and I gotta say, their music isn't bad. I'm a fan on demonic voiced singers and not only do they nail it but they nicely transition to a regular singing voice too.

And as a final thought, I would like to thank Spotify, YouTube, and MTV for bringing these bands and these songs into my life. I can't imagine listening to anything else.
