As we continued from the last story of this, we go further to see who else ran the music industry in the last five years of the decade.

2015 – Future

Future has been no stranger to the Rap Game since 2010. He has given countless number one albums and mixtapes like Beast Mode, 56 Nights and Monster. After he was signed to Epic Records, he proved his places in the game by dropping more and more projects. In 2015, he dropped his third studio album, DS2 (Dirty Sprite 2), to critical acclaim. I believe he is the greatest influence of a new genre called “Mumble Rap.” In this album, Future is the most lyrical and captivating as he has ever been. The singles promoting the album grab you in for his latest project like “Where Ya At,” “Stick Talk,” and “Rich $ex.” He continues to dominate this year and keep the influence of “Mumble Rap” going.

2016 – Beyoncé

Beyoncé is no doubt is one of the greatest performers and musicians of all time. Every time she puts out a album or an performance, it becomes a defining moment in pop culture. She has been doing this since ever since her debut in the famous girl group in the late 90’s, Destiny’s Child. After their disband in 2006, Beyoncé went on to establish herself as a great solo performer especially with her famous album in 2016, Lemonade. So many artists have been inspired by this album including famous rap artist Snoop Dogg named his album Coolaid after this. It also became a power album during the Revolutionary movement for independent and have credited Beyoncé as a big figure. This also went on to win her two Grammys and became the highest selling album of 2016.

2017 – Rihanna

Rihanna has also proved herself to be one of the greatest performers and singers of our generation. She has started in 2006 as a singer from Barbados and has been leading her place for females in music ever since. She dropped her eight studio album ANTI and became one of the best selling albums of the year and continued to push boundaries as an international singer. The LP also spawned hits like “Work,””Needed Me” and “Love on the Brain.” She also pinned herself as a fashion and pop icon. She also want just dominating on the music charts, she was also dominating pop culture.

2018 – Cardi B

Cardi B is a new female rap artist who hails from The Bronx, New York. She became recognized when she was a cast member on the hit reality show , Love & Hip-Hop: New York. She first came out with numerous and local mixtapes like Gangsta Bitch Music Series. Her 2017 breakout song, “Bodak Yellow” really set her as a new up-and-coming female rapper. Ever since then, She has continued dropping more singles and hits like “Money,””Drip” and “Bacardi Cardi.” She released her debut album, Invasion Of Privacy In April 2018 and has went on to become the best selling album of the year. She was also able to capture a Grammy off this album.

2019 – Dababy/Billie Ellish

This is a hard one because there are two people who have came up in the music game this year and have definitely changed it. First one is Dababy. He is a new rapper who hails from Charlotte, North Carolina. He has dropped numerous singles in the past, but his breakout hit came this year titled “Suge.” He later signed to Columbia Records and dropped his first studio album, Baby on Baby. He then continued to appear on tracks like “Panini Remix” and “Cash Sh*t.” He then dropped his second studio album , KIRK in September of this year and has been recognized as a great new MC.

Second person is Billie Ellish. She is a singer from Los Angeles , California. I’m not really a big fan of her type of music, but I will give her respect because of how big she was this year. She had a single titled “You should see me in a crown” the year earlier with praise. She then dropped her debut album, When we fall asleep, Where do we go?” Her family base has also grown stronger and has been definitely been recognized for her talent at just 17 years old. Her album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and she continues to be herself in the image she portrays.
