If you have a pair of eyebrows, and billions of people do, it is important to recognize the absence of such a facial feature. Now, imagine putting hearts and flowers in place of said eyebrows. Rapper/singer Doja Cat has done just that over the past few weeks.

Her expression means she is liberating herself and others from the conventionality of times of today and the past. As she has shaved off her brows and in their place put colorful and playful designs, she is exhibiting the possibilities available to anyone who wants to show their beauty, especially women.

While it is common for the ladies to rock long flowing natural hair and sometimes wigs and to have perfectly picked eyebrows, Doja Cat veered into her own lane and made a statement with her face art and her bald head.

She deserves praise and worship for her knowledge of the industry of music. She had made a splash years ago on the Internet with tracks like “Mooo!” but now she commands over twenty million Instagram followers and has changed the landscape.

Her goal seems to show that you can tear down the walls of what is to be expected and institute an entirely new identity just by picking up some scissors and clippers. Doja Cat is leading the charge in ways that no one could’ve expected. With hearts and smiley faces, Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini has positioned herself amongst other people who have altered their follicles to produce something new and exciting.

That’s what the rap game requires. To be fresh and bold and cool and out there is what gives flavor to the hip hop universe. Doja Cat knows how to bring together the ideals of “shock and awe” and capitalize off of them. If anything, she is exhibiting behavior that is conducive to an artist. She has displayed to the world that it’s okay to be a woman and completely bald. Just imagine all the girls and women who are experiencing chemotherapy. Maybe some young woman somewhere will feel encouraged to place daffodils over her eyes to feel empowered over the scourge of cancer.

Doja Cat has aligned herself to be one of the few in the rap arena to stand on the vanguard between the bland and expected and the new and exciting. With her decision to be fanciful and witty with her songs and then extend that to her person, this shows the growth and business mind of a woman still making sense of her world.

While other women use tattoos and piercings to alter their bodies, it’s not to be individualistic. Just because you have green and purple hair and a bone through your nose does not make you a champion of individualism. Same goes with Doja Cat. It’s not her lack of hair that makes her an individualist, it’s her mind that makes the difference.

When people alter their bodies in some way, it may seem, as a facade, that they’re stepping out from the crowd and begging for attention. This isn’t the case with Doja Cat. She seems genuine and ready to stand in opposition to the tired, the boring, the trite.

To try to sneer at her choice would be subjective and vicious. All of the thought that goes into the designs over her eyes is attributed to her specific idealism and approach to the rap atmosphere.

So, she should continue to be the spokeswoman for her own soul. Whatever she plans to do with her hair and skin is her business. Given her record sales, it seems like business is booming, too.
