Alivia Clark Talks "Breathless," Acting Credits, and More
Alivia Clark makes her triumphant return with her new single, "Breathless."

With “Breathless” out now, we took some time to hear from Alivia Clark. Read below to learn more about Alivia Clark, the story behind “Breathless,” and what’s to come.
Hi Alivia Clark! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?
I keep it simple, Alivia Clark is me! My middle name is Faith, and Alivia looks like the word "alive." So, my name means "alive with faith." I’ve always loved that.
What city are you from, and where are you based now?
I’m originally from New Jersey, so that energy is always in me. Right now, I’m based in Miami, which has definitely given me a chance to explore my artistry and try new things.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?
I’ve been singing since I could talk. I was born in love with music. I knew from a young age what I wanted to do and started asking my parents to sing and act professionally for years when I was little. I ended up getting signed at the age of 8! I grew up working in film, TV, theater, and voice-overs. All this time I would mess around with lyrics and melodies. In high school, I released my first original song, and from there, I haven't stopped since.
How would you describe your sound?
I’d describe my sound as emotional, feminine, and passionate! It lives somewhere between Pop, EDM, and R&B, but I love pulling in any new sound or flavor that feels right for the song. Whether that’s something stripped and vulnerable or something more elevated and high-energy. At the core, I’m a storyteller, so every song is meant to feel like a moment you’ve lived through. I want it to hit you in your feelings while still making you fall into a groove.
Do you have hobbies outside of music?
Yes! I grew up skiing and surfing. I absolutely love the outdoors and going on adventures. I think the best form of inspiration comes from just living every day to the fullest.
Who are your main musical influences?
My #1 role model growing up has always been Carole King. I will never forget hearing her music for the first time as a young girl. It opened the door for me to discover all the people I could connect with and reach through my art. She is everything that I strive to be, honest and timeless!
Who would be a dream to collaborate with?
Ariana Grande is the dream!! I grew up admiring her as she has navigated different sounds, incredible tours, and the artist life overall. She has such incredible stage presence and finds a way to build a bridge through her music to each and every fan.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?
At 15, I was given full creative control over my segment in that year’s annual performance at Carnegie Hall. Honestly, it was the first time I really had to trust my own vision. I decided to put together a medley of “Imagine” by John Lennon and “My World Needs You” by Kirk Franklin, backed by this incredible gospel choir. It was definitely different from anything I’d done before, but I just felt pulled to it. I wanted to create a moment that felt bigger than me. Something that brought people together, not just through the music, but through the feeling in the room.
About halfway through the performance, I had this moment where I just paused and took it all in. Hundreds of people swaying, singing, and smiling, it felt like everyone was connected in the same breath. I remember thinking, this is it. That’s when it really clicked for me, this is what I’m meant to do. Take my experiences, everything I feel and go through, and turn it into something that makes people feel seen, while also getting them up and dancing!
What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?
Trust your passion and believe in yourself. It is going to take a lot of grit and resilience, but you only have one life. Spend it doing what you love with the people you love!
Now onto your release, “Breathless.” What inspired this song?
To me, the song represents flourishing in your power. It’s that perfect mix of desire and tension as the track continues to grow throughout the song. It is inherently sultry and flirty, which I absolutely love. The song is a bit addicting, and you can’t help but get up and dance.
What was the creative process like when making “Breathless?”
I was sitting under the palm trees and hot sun in Miami, taking in the beautiful sights. It just came to me instantly. I wrote the song in about 10 minutes. First a couple lines, and the catchy melody started to unfold. I went to sing through the song with a mentor of mine, Stephen Gleason, at the University of Miami, and I knew pretty immediately that this song was special to me. I got connected with the incomparable producer duo, Harry Zelnick and David Mason, and the song easily unfolded from there!
How long did it take to complete?
I work with some pretty incredible industry professionals! From write to release, it took a little over a month.
What do you hope fans take away from "Breathless?"
I want this song to ground the listener in the moment. For all other problems and worries to drift away for just a couple minutes. To grab someone they love and just dance it out.
What’s next for you?
More! More music, collaborations, and stepping into bigger spaces. I am excited to continue to reach audiences looking to build a family of people who love music as much as I do! This is only the beginning, there is so much music I’ve got for you guys!
