This is part of my little series of songs written about the feminine gender. It began with songs with girl in the title, the link is below and now songs with woman in the title.

“Pretty Woman” is a song that was recorded by American singer, songwriter, and musician Roy Orbison. It was written by Orbison and Bill Dees and released as a single in 1964. The song became an instant hit and went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. After its release the single was certified Gold by the RIAA. The song was used for the 1990 movie “Pretty Woman” and for the 2018 Broadway musical “Pretty Woman: The Musical”. Orbison posthumously won the 1991 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his live recording of “Pretty Woman” on his HBO TV special “Roy Orbison and Friends, A Black and White Night”. The song is at number 224 on the Rolling Stone magazine list of the “500 Greatest Songs of All Time”.

In 1970 a version of the song was recorded by the Mexican-American rock group Santana. It is on their album Abraxas. The success of the song on the charts made Santana’s version the better-known version of the song. It became the one of the biggest hits by the group. Due to this song their album Abraxas went to number one and hit quadruple Platinum in 1986.

“Sweet City Woman” is a song that was recorded by the Canadian rock band The Stampeders in 1971. “Woman” is a song that was written and recorded by English singer, songwriter, musician, and peace activist John Lennon. It is on his double album Double Fantasty from 1980. It was the second single released from the album and the first Lennon single issued after his murder on December 8, 1980. He wrote it as an ode to his wife Yoko Ono and to all women. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and went to number one on the Cashbox top 100 chart.

“Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman” is a song that was written by Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician Bryan Adams, Michael Kamen, and Robert John “Mutt” Lange. It was recorded by Adams in 1995 for the movie “Don Juan DeMarco”. It is also featured on Adams album 18 Till I Die. The song went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
