Venus Aphrodite

Brazilian based self styled sultry siren, Venus Aphrodite, has dropped an out and out occult music classic with her song ‘Flames’ just released on New Reality Records.

Venus has released the full text of her lyrics and is happy for us to publish them in full here:

And thou shalt be the first of witches known

And thou shalt be the first in all the world

And thou shalt teach the art of poisoning

Of poisoning those who are great Lords of all

Yeah

You shall make them die in their palaces

And you shall bind the opressor's soul (with power)

And when a priest shall do you injury by his benedictions

You shall do to him double the harm

And do it in the name of me, Diana

Queen of witches all

When I shall have departed from this world,

Whenever you have need of anything

Once in a month, and when the moon is full

You shall assemble in some desert place

Or in a forest, all together joined

To adore the potent spirit of your Queen, my mother

Great Diana

She who fain would learn all sorcery and has not won its deepest secrets

Them my mother will teach her

In truth, all things as yet unknown

And you shall be free from all slavery

And you shall be free in everything

And as the sign that you are truly free

You shall be naked in your rites, both men and women also

This shall last until the last of your opressors lay dead

And you shall make the game of Benevento, extinguishing the lights

And after that, you shall hold your supper thus:

We will dance in the flames

We will call out their names

And our words will go up in smoke

And our words will go up in flames

And reach high heavens and down below

And reach high heavens and down below

We will dance in the flames

We will call out their names

Reach high heavens and down below

And reach high heavens

And down below

We will dance in the flames

We will call out their names

We will dance in the flames

We will dance in the flames

And reach high heavens

and down below

(the cube in the circle)

And reach high heavens

The cube in the circle

The lyrics to Flames are adapted from a text called Gospel of the Witches (Charles G. Leland, 1890). The text tells the tale of how Diana, goddess of witchcraft, had by her brother Lucifer (god of Light) a daughter named Aradia.

Aradia, the female messiah, came down to earth, established witchcraft and the first witches.

Venus tells us that:

Aradia taught witchcraft as a tool of liberty and empowerment to groups of people who had been oppressed and enslaved by the rich lords of the land.

The mood of Flames is in sync with the mood of these times when people and in particular young people are starting to rise up against oppression, inequalities and to highlight the world’s climate crisis.

Venus Aphrodite or VA as she is sometimes known has had a prolific 2020 so far with an album release and several EPs and singles. She says:

When the gods are with me I just have to write, record and release.

Flames comes from Venus Aphrodite’s latest EP ‘Persephone’ and both tracks are set to feature on her next album which is, subject to change, titled ‘Hymns, Prayers and Ads’.

We look forward to it!
