AL99 Shines on The Showcase Tour in Clifton, New Jersey

The Showcase Tour is an event platform offering emerging artists, musicians, and performers a chance to exhibit their talents on stage. Typically organized as a series of live showcase events in various cities, The Showcase Tour provides a platform for up-and-coming talent to present their skills. Artists can connect with new audiences, network with fellow artists, and potentially gain exposure within the entertainment industry. On November 30, 2023, The Showcase Tour arrived in Clifton, New Jersey, and when I learned AL99 was on the flyer, I snatched up my ticket.

The Showcase Tour Offers Surprises

With the event held at the famed Dingbatz, a venue known for its full-service bar, high-quality sound stage, and draw with the metal and rock crowd, many were pleasantly surprised to see a mainly rap and hip-hop lineup in the space, myself included. Even with an atypical crowd for the venue, the staff and tour worked well together to put on an incredible show for all who traveled to see the performers.

Participants on The Showcase Tour included aspiring musicians, singers, and other performers looking to showcase their abilities, and the New Jersey show was no different. The event featured diverse talents, creating a dynamic and engaging experience for performers and audience members. With a CVS receipt-length list of artists traveling from all over the country to perform, the logistics could have been a nightmare. I was in awe of the organization, the positivity, and the packed house from start to finish.

Despite a late start, the vibes remained positive, and energy stayed up. DJ K-Rock can be credited with the smooth flow of artists to the stage and keeping the momentum going between sets. He kept everything moving with a high-energy music mix that never let the vibe drop. The artists were professionals. Each shared a common enthusiasm for the opportunity and one another, which was a wonderful thing to see and experience. When it was time for AL99 to take the stage, the crowd had already ridden the wave of a couple of swells in the pit and a few surprising genres that, while being outliers, connected well.

AL99 Brings "War in Music" to the Stage

AL99 graced the stage with a five-minute set. He performed, “War in Music,” from his 2022 album, “Tomorrow Land.” The track is a low-key energy piece with flow changes that keep the listener locked in, a bounce that got the crowd moving, and lyrics that speak to AL99 and his life experience. The sound is entirely original, but the energy had me thinking of old-school tracks from the Geto Boys. Give it a listen and you’ll see what I mean. The song choice was an intentional choice. The length fit into the set time and gave the audience a taste of the best of AL99. “War in Music” is currently the most popular song in his catalog for good reason.

During his set, the 24-year-old star showcased his stage presence with his dichotomous vibe and effortless control, connecting with audience members and navigating the stage space like a professional. There is no doubt why they call him Versatile Al. He has done it all as a performer and has built a catalog to tap into the musical wish list of any music lover.
