Singing and dancing go hand in hand.

But as much as this is the case, not everybody who makes music is a really good dancer.

While there are a lot of men making music in Nigeria, today I want to look at 7 men who are not only good at making music, but also really good at dancing to it.

In America, names like Usher, Chris Brown, Jason Derulo, spring to mind when you think of singers that can dance. Who is that for the Nigerian people?

Well, let’s find out.

I have a really fun page. If you like my page, you will have fun too. So what's stopping you? Like my page and let's have fun together!

1. Olamide

Nigerian singer Olamide is a very chill guy. From his persona to his music to his overall demeanor. However, do not let that deceive you. Olamide is still very much an incredibly good dancer. This has never been more apparent than it was in the videos Science Student and the dance-driven Woske music video.

Olamide is a really good dancer and what I think I love the most about his dancing is just how chill it is. It’s the same reason I love Genevieve Nnaji’s dancing. You can find that one here:

2&3. Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye

Former musical duo now individual solo singers, Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye who once made up the very famous and very successful musical duo, P-Square. Immediately P-Square burst unto the scene, they were quickly praised and celebrated as Nigeria’s Michael Jackson, being compared and likened to America’s usher. As a duo, they gave a lot of very dance heavy music videos and performances. In fact, it was a huge part of the P-Square brand.

Now as solo artistes, each individual artiste, Mr P and Rudeboy still give very high-energy dance performances in both their music videos and stage performances. If there are singers in Nigeria that we put at the top when it comes to dancing, it would be impossible to finish compiling the list without including Peter and Paul Okoye

4. May D

Another artiste (one who happens to be one of my favorite singers in the entire industry) that is a really good dancer is no-surprise-here, a boy who was discovered by P-Square, Mr. May D.

His infectious music demanded a good dancer to make them really pop and carry the music videos, and as a dancer, Mr. May D did not disappoint. Evidence of this comes very strong in music videos such as hit single and music video, Aleyi A Bad that was very dance heavy.

May D is an exceptional singer and dancer and I’m so happy to see that he’s back in the music industry.

5. Zlatan Ibile

You know you’re an iconic dancer when you create a dance that not only you are good at, but one that is really good, people like to watch and want to learn, so much so that it becomes a national phenomenon. Zlatan Ibile is famous for creating and popularizing the famous Zanku Legwork dance, a dance that he has gone on to feature in a slew of music videos and live performances.

The dance became such a phenomenon that people around the country where doing it in clubs and churches alike. Talk about impact!

6. Naira Marley

Speaking of people who popularized dance moves in the country, Naira Marley’s Tesumole dance clicked with the Nigerian audience. After putting out the infectious song and music video, the dance move through the power of social media spread across the entire country and in no time, everybody and their mother was doing the dance.

Naira Marley himself is a generally good dancer, a skill that he has marketed and captured his audience with in music videos and stage performances alike.

7. Don Jazzy

We have to shoutout Don Jazzy here because…he tried. Yes, Don Jazzy is not and has never claimed to be one of Nigeria’s best or even good dancers. However, when the Tesumole dance trend was going on, the MAVIN boss himself decided to jump into the mix and try the dance himself.

Below was the result:

Like it or not, Jazzy tried and for that I’m going to give him a special shoutout on my post. Keep dancing Don Jazzy, you dey try!

That’s All.
