Tammy: Please describe yourself in 3 words?
3Mind Blight: Blunt, Driven, and Artistic.
Tammy: You are on a musically creative collaboration journey with fellow singer Sophie Dorsten. How did you meet and begin to make music together?
3Mind Blight: We became friends in the later part of 2019. We were always in the same music lists and groups. About six months into our friendship, we were fans of each other's music.
I had a few collaborations with others already and we started talking about working on a few tracks together. I sent a few and the day after, I created a Hip-Hop guitar track. I sent her the song with a chorus I made for it and a melody. We started sending vocal tracks back and forth and her lyrics fit perfectly with my lyrics.
I mixed the song and had my friend Ray Roehrborn help me finalize the Master. It turned out amazing and I thought we sounded great together. Upon release it was so well received that we decided in the future we would make another one together.
Tammy: What are some songs of yours that are the most meaningful to you and why?
3Mind Blight: Breaking Down (It started my multi-genre career as 3Mind Blight.) and Can't You See - because the lyrics are powerful and have so much personal meaning to me.
Tammy: What was your childhood like?
3Mind Blight: We moved around a lot and there were a lot of negatives but it made me who I am today so I would not change a thing.
Tammy: What are some must-have items you need when recording a song?
3Mind Blight: Inspiration. My Acoustic and Electric Guitar and silence while I delve into my process.
Tammy: What goes into your thought process when you are creating music?
3Mind Blight: I try to see the song as a video. I create as I watch it in my mind and when all of the pieces fit. I create the music I hear and write the lyrics as I audition over the music track. Most of my songs are created freestyle and I go back in and change things up to make it all mesh together.
Tammy: What have some challenges in the music industry you overcame that made you a better entertainer?
3Mind Blight: At first, I tried to fit into a genre. I hated being boxed in and my music was going nowhere. I decided to make what I wanted and to add whatever genres I felt at the time fit the song. Some songs have many genres within like Hip-Hop Metal tracks.
Tammy: Who are some people in the music industry that inspire you?
3Mind Blight: Independent musicians inspire me. Also, the real ones who are signed that continue to be themselves no matter what it costs.
Tammy: What are you currently working on?
3Mind Blight: I am working on finishing up my Rock / Metal album. I am also finishing up an Acoustic Rock Ep as well as two Hip-Hop tracks.
Tammy: What is a quote that you live by?
3Mind Blight: Live your life as you are and you will always be who you are meant to be.
Tammy: What's next for 3Mind Blight?
3Mind Blight: I have so many things that I am trying to branch out into. Currently, I am writing a poetry book as well as two short stories that I will adapt into films that only include independent music for the soundtracks.
Tammy: What else would you like our readers to know about you?
3Mind Blight: I am who I am and I will never pretend to be something else. I will never sell myself short just to make a buck. I make music because I feel through music. So you'll never know what kind of music you will hear from me.
Tammy: What advice would you have for aspiring music artists?
3Mind Blight: Always be yourself and never settle for less. As long as you keep trying you will never fail. Don't be afraid to put your creations out there. If you really like it chances are others will as well.
