These tunes deserved more love.

I'm not going to lie, whenever I get into a conversation about One Direction and someone utters the words “but they broke up, right?” My body becomes possessed by Ross Gellar and I find myself getting into a lengthy rant about how they aren't broken-up and have every intention of coming back!

But I can understand where the doubt comes from. Sometimes boy band breaks, turn into breakups – I’m looking at you *NSYNC!

Anyway, since One Direction announced their hiatus back in 2015, Niall, Harry, Louis, and Liam have gone their separate ways, and to say we’ve missed hearing their lovely voices together would be an understatement. Don’t get me wrong, hearing their solo stuff has been amazing and a really great way to learn more about their influences, but I’d be lying if I said a large part of me would not mind if they decided to drop everything and decided to come back tomorrow.

Alas, since that’s not going to happen and we have a bit of a wait before the boys have their reunion, who says we can’t reminisce about those One Direction songs that didn't get as much recognition?

So, grab a cup of tea and curl up with a blanket, as I venture into 1D's discography and present titles that deserved more love.

Album: Up All Night

When One Direction first burst on the scene with their debut album Up All Night, a lot of people quickly brushed them off as just being “another pop fluff-infused boyband.” I say poopycock to that! They had many beautifully composed songs and "Same Mistakes" was one of them. It was and remains one of my absolute favourites off the album.

Written by Ed Sheeran, "Moments" was eventually given to the group and they did an amazing job with conveying its' deep lyrics.

Album: Take Me Home

Whenever this song comes on while jamming to their sophomore album, you better believe the volume gets cranked-up and the dance moves come out.

“They Don’t Know About Us”

“They don’t know about the things we do.

They don’t know about the ‘I love you’s’” ….

This track is all about a love that’s kept secret and it gives all the feels.

Album: Midnight Memories

Getting into the band’s third album, we really started to hear more of the boys’ individual sound and influences coming through as they did have more creative input and began writing their own songs. “Through the Dark” was definitely the track to spear head it all with its mature sound and lyrics. Why it wasn’t a single, will always remain a mystery.

Written by Louis Tomlinson, the track screams about not being afraid when you find a love that makes you feel like a stronger and better person and how you’re willing to do anything to hold on to it. We hear ya, Louis.

Something about Harry’s song writing has always left us feeling emotional, and fans have known this since hearing “Something Great.” It's a declaration of love for someone from afar. Until the “from afar love” offers a reply of reciprocation right at the very end. The track almost unfolds like a play.

Album: Four

Imagine driving on an empty road, in a vintage convertible, top down as you drive with the sun shining down, and the speakers are blasting this tune. Sounds like heaven.

I absolutely love this song! And when I say I love it I mean every single aspect of it. It’s one of the absolute best songs they’ve ever had and the fact that it wasn’t made a single or performed live is utter blasphemous but it’s okay, I’m fine.

This track about...um, let's say "morning standing ovations," was a massive hit amongst One Direction's fan base. Additionally, what made it even better is how it was Louis' moment to shine as he carried the chorus and co-wrote the song with Liam Payne.

Album: Made in the A.M.

When "Drag Me Down" dropped, everyone could tell that Made In The A.M. was going to be in another realm; a turning point for the now, quartet's (Zayn had left at this point) sound. But, let me tell you when we got Infinity it was like a whole other ball game. The harmonies, the bridge build-up… One word: Chills. I get literal chills.

Ah, here we have Harry, once again, breaking our hearts. I’m not going to say anything about this one because it speaks for its self.

To be fair, “Home” was an EP release and didn’t make it on MITAM but it's one of the most beautiful songs they've released. Written by Louis and Liam, this track deserves all the recognition and praise it can get and more.

“What a Feeling” deserved a Grammy! It deserves to be a single! Deserves a well-directed and produced music video! ...It deserves everything good in the world!!!

There are a more that should be on here but, to be honest, my One Direction emotions are all over the place and, I need a bit of a lie-down.
