"Malibu" tells the story of a couple who have rekindled their relationship, and now they stand by the ocean in Malibu with a fresh start on their partnership. Cyrus actually wrote the song for Liam Hemsworth, with whom she had a long-term relationship, to express her love and gratitude towards him.

No list about love songs regarding the ocean or the sea would be complete without the 1960s classic "Under the Boardwalk." The lyrics tell of a couple who curl up on a blanket under the boardwalk where they can have fun and fall in love. Not only did it hit #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, but Billboard also put it as the #2 best beach song of all time.
