These ones will surprise you.

Who doesn’t love the MAVINS?

After the disbandment of Mo’Hits records and the clique of Mo’Hits that consisted of Don Jazzy, D’Banj, and Wande Coal primarily, Mo’Hits creator Don Jazzy assembled a new crew of talented musicians who together have become the MAVINS.

Famously in 2014, the newly formed MAVINS dropped the hugely successful DOROBUCCI followed by the equally as successful ADAOBI which highlighted the talent of the newest signees Reekado Banks, Di’Ja, and Korede Bello.

Now, the MAVINS are still in operation and even if they haven’t all come together to do one song as they did back in the day, Don Jazzy has still been recruiting new voices and talent to the MAVIN family.

The latest one causing quite the stir and creating some buzz for herself is the latest MAVIN signee Ayra Starr. Since not much is known about her, I decided to do some digging so we can get to know her more and below are 11 Things You Didn’t Know About the Newest MAVIN Ayra Starr

**Before reading on, please make sure to like and follow my Facebook page so you don't miss out on any new and interesting lists, articles, and stories that I post every single day. I have a really fun page. If you like my page, you will have fun too. So what's stopping you? Like my page and let's have fun together!

1. She’s only 18 years

Ayra is very young. The latest MAVIN is only 18 years old.

2. She’s from Edo State

Just like her fellow MAVIN Rema, Ayra Starr is also from Edo State although she is currently based in Lagos.

3. She didn’t come out of nowhere

Ayra has been recording and posting videos of herself covering people’s songs for quite some time now on Instagram – as far back as 2019. This is one of the things that caught Don Jazzy’s eye and made him sign her.

4. Her father is late

Ayra’s father is unfortunately late. But, the singer remembers him fondly and draws inspiration from him even now after his passing. Writing on her social media, she said:

My dad was a Go getter , he lived his life the way he wanted , created his own rules and was unapologetic about it , he was the real O.G .

If I have learnt anything during this past week is that there is no template to life , live your life the way you want because at the end of the day you go alone.

On Sunday I knew I had a choice to stay home all through and cry about how unfair his death was or change the situation into an inspiration like my father always did , so I chose the latter.

5. She was signed last year

According to NotJustOK, although we are just now hearing about Ayra, she actually got signed to MAVIN Records last year.

6. She was part of the #EndSARS protest

If there’s anything that makes me like this girl already, it’s the fact that during the #EndSARS protest, she actually took to the streets to protest against bad governance. We love to see someone who is actually talk and do even before becoming famous.

7. She's very spiritual

Ayra refers to herself as a celestial being - in fact, it is her name on Instagram.

8. She can die for fashion

Ayra once posted the picture below on Instagram with the caption:

Is this dress nice ? Yes. Can I breath in it ? No. Would I wear it again ? definitely!!!

This is a girl who doesn’t care if she cannot breathe inside cloth as long as the cloth is fine.

9. The MAVIN family love her

Whenever something like this happens, people are always quick to assume that there must be some bad blood, tension, or jealousy amongst the group – but that is not the case this time around. When Ayra made the official announcement of her signing, fellow MAVINS Johnny Drille, Rema, Baby Fresh, Dr. Sid and of course Don Jazzy where quick to congratulate her.

10. She has a music video out now

Her first official music video for a song titled Away is out now

11. She also has an EP out

…and in less than 24 hours, it became the no. 1 album on Apple Music Nigeria.

I’m so happy for Ayra Starr and I’m excited to see what she does and brings to the Nigerian music scene. Good luck and break a leg!

That’s All.
