That Night.....Part 6
"Thank you for the dance," Sean says awkwardly. He didn't know what else to say in that moment. It's now 2am, the bar is closing, and he hasn't kissed her. Without realizing it, he and Zara had danced for about an hour and a half straight. Sean had ample opportunity to join his lips to hers but he had an urge to take his time. He had been enjoying the build of the anticipation, and his ego wanted to build the anticipation so much that this woman would practically be begging him to kiss her. He wonders if Zara is the type to beg for anything. He realizes it might have been a mistake to play the long game. As soon as the house lights came on and the vibe was interrupted, Zara reverted right back to the distant, half-interested posture she'd had when he first introduced himself.

That Night....Part 4
"Just another night in LA for a single girl," Zara says to no one in particular with a heavy sigh. She finishes the rest of her drink in one swallow. "At least I can burn off some of this energy on the dancefloor." Zara shrugs off everything that had transpired in the previous 3 hours and settled on making the best of the remainder of the night. Zara refused to let this night be a bust. The disappointing date, the fruitless flirting, and the possessive "friends" all amounted to nothing but irritation.

That Night...Part 3
Allen takes Zara’s hand in his and gently kisses it. Zara blushes at how good his lips feel against her skin. A wave of electricity races from her fingers through her arms and down her spine. Zara had not been kissed in any capacity in a while. For her, kissing was too intimate of a gesture to just share with anyone, at least when it came to kisses on the lips. Even kisses on the forehead were rare for Zara, since she’d have to allow a man within a certain proximity to even be close enough to land one. One thing Zara held near and dear was her physical space. She didn’t like it invaded by anyone. However, this kiss on the hand was different. These kinds of kisses still kept a respectable distance, and they occurred for her as sweet, gentlemanly gestures appropriate for a lady. Unfortunately, men in 21st century Los Angeles could hardly be described as gentlemen. Not all of them were brutes but a very minor percentage dared to go against mainstream society which had come to the consensus that financially-independent, professional women like Zara did not deserve to be romanced or treated like ladies. All the rest were somewhere in the middle of the two extremes. So, one can understand how excited Zara felt in this rare moment.

That Night.....
“Hey boo,” Zara smiles as Eve approaches. Zara stands to kiss her on the cheek. “Heeeey boo!” Eve sings back to Zara as she leans in for a hug and kiss. No sooner than the ladies finish their greeting, Eve pops back into her two-step. “Oh, this is my jam!” Before Eve even takes a seat for ten seconds, party mode has already kicked in. Zara wasn’t the least surprised. Eve was always ready to shake a tailfeather. She needed no warm-up. Eve's party starts the moment she steps on the scene, and her energy was infectious.

That Night...
“I swear I do not feel like going on this date tonight,” Zara says aloud to herself as she gazes into her own eyes in the mirror. Zara has been on more dates than she cares to count in the past 6 months. One by one, each one seemed to drain her desire to finding true love. Countless guys were either dull, arrogant, ignorant, cheap, emotionally unavailable, or a combination. At 34 years old, Zara was simply over it.

The Ripple Effect
Have you ever taken a few moments in time to just watch a body of water? The millions of molecules are so connected that the movement of one causes some movement to the molecules immediately surrounding it, and those molecules move the ones surrounding them and so on until the entire body of water is in a state of motion.

Married by September 2021
October 10, 2020 I opened my eyes. The green flourescent numbers on the microwave read 3:36am. I'd only been asleep for 3 hours. I closed my eyes and the dream I'd been having started to come back to me in pieces: Tears in my eyes, but I was smiling; a beach in the background with white sands and turquoise waves gently crashing on the shore; "Forever...," he says; I can hear his baritone voice filled with love, but I cannot see him. I was dreaming of my wedding day. Somehow, my dream revealed the exact date. I couldn't see it or hear it but when I opened my eyes again, it was settled on my heart that I would be married on September 21, 2021.
