The Amityville Horror: A True Story of a Haunted House
The Amityville Horror is a book and a series of films that tell the story of the Lutz family, who moved into a new home on Long Island, New York in 1975, only to be driven out 28 days later by what they claimed were supernatural phenomena. The house at 112 Ocean Avenue had a dark past: in 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. had murdered his entire family while they slept in their beds. The Lutz family, George and Kathy and their three children, moved into the house in December 1975. They were aware of the murders that had taken place there, but they were convinced that the house was their dream home and that they could put the tragic events behind them.
