The Night Bird
Dawn sat atop the branches of the trees that stood closest to the snow covered mountains that over looked the fields down below. He would sit here day in and day out looking ahead at the flocks of birds that flew over him each day. He was sure that they watched him with contempt, as if he were something worthless; not deemed worthy enough to fly along side of them. Anger and resentment filled his heart. But was he angry at them or at himself? Or should his anger instead be aimed at the Great Owl? The owl was the one that made the decision of who was allowed to fly in the heavens. But how could Dawn not be worthy? He had pledged his allegiance to the Great Owl. He had shown him time and time again that he was ready to stand beside the chosen flock and take flight. But this apparently wasn’t good enough and now Dawn stood at a standstill. He was stuck at a fork in the roads.

The People Of Nile Island
David suddenly awoke from his sleep. His head was spinning, and he felt as if his skull would crack open at any moment. He looked around and could barely make out the silhouettes of his crew mates. It was pitch black but other than that, he had no way of telling what time it was or how much time had passed since they had landed on the island.

The Other
Abraham was an extremely successful business man. He often credited his success to having a dominant will power that never allowed him to give up and he was always constantly pushing himself forward to better himself and his future. Abraham was responsible for bettering the train infrastructure in North-Western Wisconsin. He created a high-powered rail system that connected parts of Northern Wisconsin to parts of Minnesota, Michigan and even Canada and in turn, this made the public transit in Willow’s Peak a more desirable form of transportation. Willow’s Peak was a small town that Abraham moved to after his studies in university were over. Most of his family and friends questioned his decision to move to such a small place. To them, it was small, desolate, and completely out of touch with the rest of modern-day society.

Mine
She has to be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Her tall thin figure, her long brunette hair, her blue eyes are like looking into the ocean. She is an exquisite creature. It takes only one interaction for me to decide that she is who I want. In fact, I believe she already belongs to me, she just doesn’t know it yet. Our hands touch as she hands me back my book, a sudden surge of electricity fills me to my core. Her skin is soft and smooth, and she stands so close to me, I can get a faint scent of her perfume. It’s intoxicating, the sweet smell fills my heart with excitement. I ask her if she is available for lunch some time. She smiles, she’s embarrassed but flattered. She tells me she is already seeing someone and in fact, he is waiting for her outside.

The Tree That Never Dies
There is an old pear tree that sits atop the hill at the edge of the village. No one really knows how old the tree really is. It is believed to have lived through a number of wars and plagues. Almost one hundred years ago, the village was cursed with a terrible heat wave that destroyed the crops and dried the village of water. Of all of the trees and crops that died, the pear tree was the only thing that survived. Her Everlasting Winter
She stood at the edge of the frozen pond, in her long white gown, her blonde hair blowing in the soft cool breeze. She seemed unbothered by the cold, almost as if she didn’t feel it at all. What was she doing? Was she waiting for someone? Each night at the same time when the moon was highest in the sky, she found herself at this pond, almost as if some spell compelled her to come and visit it. But she never had any recollection of how she arrived at such a place. She couldn’t even recall the journey that brought her here.

Frozen Pond
Love is defined by a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties or that would be the simple interpretation for such a feeling. Words can never seem to properly express the amount of love that I feel for you. Ever since the day I first laid eyes on you, I was entrapped by your beauty. Do you remember the day we met? It was 12 years ago but it feels like yesterday. It was winter. You sat alone at the edge of the frozen pond looking out at the ice as if lost by a spell that forced you to hold your gaze out into frozen space. I saw you from a distance and although I couldn’t be one hundred percent sure, I knew that you were the one that I had been searching for.

Green Light
Sammie was awaken by the excited sound of chatter entering her dreams and pulling her away from her subconsciousness. She could make out the voices of her parents arguing with her siblings about the appropriate attire to wear to this evening’s ceremonies. Sammie laid in bed for a few more minutes. She attempted to go back to sleep, but the rays of the sun were cutting through her closed eyes so much, all she could see was the red tint from the sun. After a moment, she finally got up and began to get dressed. Sammie lived in a household of five people: her mother, father, two younger siblings and herself. After getting dressed, she walked over to a calendar that was pinned to the wall. Each of the previous days had been crossed off and they were leading to today’s event, February the 24th.

Raging Bull
Now, the story that I am about to tell you may seem hard to believe, but it’s true. Every last word. This all happened, I don’t know, maybe about fifty or so years ago. I couldn’t have been any older than you are now. That’s right, this was years before even your daddy was born. I lived in a small town in the west you see, and we didn’t have much. Huntin and fishin was all there was to do in this town. Used to go down to the lake with my old man on the weekends. I remember I caught myself a big old son of a bitch one day. A monster of a cat fish bigger than me and almost as big as my old man and he wasn’t a small man to begin with. Now don’t you go looking at me like that through those raised eyebrows. There wasn’t no cameras back then so you’re just going to have to take me on my word.
