The Trip Back
I sat on the corner of my pitch black bedroom floor hugging my knees tightly against my chest. My eyes were open widely as I kept repeating a silent prayer. I couldn’t bring myself to close them, not even for a minute. With my heart thumping loudly, threatening to tear past my ribcage and leap out onto the floor. I couldn’t risk a panic attack that I knew I was seconds away from. I was shivering with every nerve-wrecking breath that I took. The thunder that was erupting outside did nothing for my nerves. I couldn’t figure out what was going on in the rest of the house.

She Can Tell
She can tell, can’t she? I most think she can She can tell by the grace of my walk She can tell by the height of my posture; She can tell by the spark in my eye She can tell by the step in my heel She can tell by the rhythm of my hip She can tell by the smile on my lip; She can most probably tell by my expression By every smile, tear drop that runs down my cheek By every frown, every laugh that escapes my lips By every walk, every dance that gets inspired By every sad, sad love song that plays Reminding me of how much I lost; By every person that I speak to By every bus stop I pass By every shop I go into; By every child that plays Each and every day that passes by Oh, I bet she can tell that I plan on taking you away…

A Saving Grace
Saying a prayer, a saving grace Opens up your heart to a whole new place It’s a feeling, an emotion that gets evoked Like a word or a line that you wish you’d wrote See me now I’m sitting here in this place That you left me in, a dungeon that’s caving in Where you opened up this whole new world It’s filled with sticks and it’s filled with stones You took a portrait, a painting and you carved out walls That made no sense, that had no light, it’s just a void It blinding, it’s deafening, it’s straight up hell But you saw me and you took it and you made a fit You had dreams, you had wishes But you had a foetus and you had a choice Now I’m stuck in your nightmare And I’m living this life and I have no choice.
