When Therapy Is Too Expensive...
My mental health has been dancing on a wire for almost a decade. To be honest? I’m not sure if there is a safety net below because I’ve always been too scared to look. Ideally, the world would genuinely take mental health as serious as physical health. Not just hosting conversations about mental health, creating “zen rooms” or social media campaigns, but implementing laws that can prove this world cares about the inside as much as the outside.

For most of my life when I read the word ‘Healing,’ it was followed by a first aid kit. Packed with band-aids and alcohol wipes. Somehow I was supposed to use these things to seal in these wounds scattered around my body like birthmarks; scattered around my mind like stars. This is where things got complicated because I never actually saw blood and sometimes there were no scars.

At one point we were all wearing diapers, still figuring out how to train our tongue to wrap around the word "mommy," and "daddy." At one point we were being coddled and we didn't understand what boundaries were. At one point we all blinked for too long and by the time we opened our eyes again we were pushed out into the real world (whatever that means) with sensitive bodies, overwhelmed minds, and plates filled with responsibilities and expectations. We're not babies anymore.
