Memories of My Dad
Oliver (O.C.) Stringer was born on June 12, 1920 as the only child into a Central Illinois farming family. It was a much simpler time in our country’s history and of course there were no computers or cell phones. If you had a phone at all it used the fence wire that ran along the miles of open country roads and it had a crank on it to make it ring farther down the line.

Uncommon Knowledge Is Not Very Common
I'm one of those people that since birth is on that eternal quest for knowledge and it could be because I am a Sagittarian by birth, driven to constantly learn. Learning new things with a healthy curiosity can over a long period of time enlighten ones scope of the world. It seems to me that common knowledge is not all that common because most people are not paying attention, to anything. Then we have the other problem in an information filled internet world where a lot of people put out incorrect and deliberate bad information. On the other hand uncommon knowledge is very well hidden from most of us.

I Am Sagittarius
I Am Sagittarius I was born under the sun sign Sagittarius on the 19th day of December 1945 on a snowy Wednesday morning at 8:15 am. It has been both a blessing and a curse. I do not remember the age when I became aware of “self” but it had to be in my early teen years. Before that I was just like everyone else, no more than a kid absorbing the world as it came to me. Long before my exposure to the Zodiac, the ninth astrological sign known as Sagittarius, affected my mental, spiritual and my physical growth. My birth date being on the cusp brings other traits from Astrology into the mixture both good and bad.

The Mysterious Little Black Book
Ever since I can remember I have been fascinated by pencil and paper. I was exposed to stationary at an early age because moms would take their kids with them whenever they went shopping. Department stores had stationary sections with stacks of paper and pencils that I was enchanted with, not yet understanding the power of the written word. Growing up I never thought much about writing until high school where writing was forced upon me and all the other students for book reports and essays.

The Art of Getting old
The journey to being old begins when you are born. The pace is so slow that it is difficult to measure in real time but easily measured by life events such as the death of a loved one, birth of children, birthdays, marriages and divorces, etc. The definition of old is not easily found but in general an old person is anyone who is 10 years older than you and therefore you are old to someone 10 years your junior. It turns out to be a relative thing that is continuously adjusting to who you are around.
