There is one thing that me and my littles love making, and it's cookies. Now I am by no means a master baker. I fully believe in if you have a good attitude while baking it will be amazing in the end. I never used to believe this until my mom made a very good point. My father is the real baker in the family, any baked goods the first time he tries making something it's amazing from the beginning. Now every year around Christmas time, my dad makes the best cookies. He's always tweaking the original recipe and making it his own. Now I'm not the biggest fan of the holidays, actually my family will call me the Grinch of Christmas and honestly I'd have to agree. But me and my mom always say that my dad has the most Christmas spirit and that is why his cookies come out amazing each time. When I was young I just believed I wasn't good at making cookies, that I just didn't have that special touch like my dad. Until I met my now fiancé, and his sweet little angel. Obviously kids naturally love cookies and are typically happy when they get a chance to help out in the kitchen. So for a long time she would beg me to make cookies, and I would always say well lets get your grumpa (that's what my kids call their grandfather.) and you can make cookies with him because I'm not good at making them. But she insisted that me and her needed to make them, so obviously looking at that sweet face how could you say no? I knew that they would probably come out terribly, but it made her happy so I figured why not. So we set up the kitchen kicked her dad out of the kitchen and we went to work. On a side note, I really hate making a mess like it really unnerves me and I typically clean as I go. But when you have a child that wants to help out, messes happen. So even though it unnerved me to watch her spill stuff everywhere I put on a smile and told her she was doing amazing. I don't know about all of you, but I like to ask simple questions to get my kids thinking. Such as if we need 4 cups of flour, and you just put 1 cup in the bowl how many do you need to get to 4 cups? And she really enjoys it, when she gets the answer right you just can see the happiness radiate out of her. So fast forwarding to the final product, we take a bite and I swear it taste just like my dads. I was so surprised we called my dad immediately after and told him all about it! After getting off the phone, my daughter (yes I say my daughter because I have helped raised her for years at this point.) asked me why I felt that our cookies wouldn't come out good. I looked at her, and I told her that I have never been able to make a cookie that ever tasted as good as the ones we made. She sat there for a second taking in what I said. And I will never forget what she told me, she looks at me and goes, "Mom what do you always tell me?" and honestly I blanked for a second, "That we don't say we can't do something, just because we didn't get it the first time or even the third time doesn't mean we won't figure it out eventually. You also tell me I can't say that I can't do something just because it didn't work out the first time." I looked at this sweet little face and she was right. I always tell her just because we didn't succeed the first time, means we give up and not try again. Since then I've tried looking on the brighter side of things, and to start taking my own advice and to relax a little. Messes and learning are apart of life, and it's okay that we don't get it right away. That doesn't mean that we can't learn how to make something amazing in the end.
As I get off the bus with my 2 duffels I take a deep breath knowing that I have just moved across country on a complete whim. Hi my name is River, and I had just decided to take life by the balls and move somewhere I didn't know anyone, to have a chance to completely change my life. I found an apartment listing in New Orleans and I thought well why not right? I applied and by some miracle even being thousands of miles away I was approved. First thing first is I needed to find my new apartment and find a job. I had thankfully set aside enough for at least one months worth of rent, on top of being able to pay the down deposit and get my ass across the country. I made my way to my apartment building where my landlord Wendy was waiting with the keys. As I started up the flight of stairs, I already knew this was the best decision I have made in my entire life. As soon as I neared my door I saw this lovely middle aged lady, who you knew had lived here her entire life. "River Evans?" I nodded out of breath and stretched out my hand to shake. "Yes ma'am I just want to thank you so much for this opportunity. "Of course! it has taken me months to try and find someone." I smiled and she opened the front door. It was a really nice one bedroom apartment, with an open floor plan. The kitchen led into the living room with a huge bay window over looking New Orleans. I knew I must be smiling from ear to ear, "You have no idea how much I needed this." She laughed, "Well I knew that from talking with you briefly that you weren't going to be a lick of problem for me. Now about your employment, I know you said you were out of a car for now but I found a bartending job a couple blocks over and I took it upon myself to give you a good word. If you have a moment I wouldn't mind walking you over to meet the owner." I nodded enthusiastically, and dropped my duffels. Wendy handed me my keys and led the way. We talked on the way to the bar, as I took in my surroundings. I just knew this was going to work out. As we neared the bar another middle aged lady walked out and embraced Wendy. "River, this is miss Sandy, I think you are going to have a hard worker on your hands Sandy." She took my hand in a firm hand shake, "I am sure I will." Wendy smiled, "Well I will be off then, River good luck and I will be talking to you soon." I turned my attention back to Sandy, "Well miss Wendy already told me all about you and how you bartended where you last lived. We don't have a huge set up but we do have an inside and outside bar area. We are more like somewhere to grab a drink and a quick bite. We have another bartender but as you can assume he can't be in two places at once, ah here he is now Christian come meet our new bartender River." I looked up at this really handsome not overly muscular but you could tell he had some definition to him, he had dark brown hair and scary bright blue eyes. I put my hand out to shake, "Well it's nice to meet you, and it's also nice to get some help, She'll be perfect for the outside bar." I smiled and when I went to pull my hand away he held on and looked deep into my eye's. "Well I'm really glad to be here." He let go of my hand, "Perfect! Lets go get you set up then, would you be willing to come in for a simple lunch dinner shift lets say tomorrow?" I turned my attention on Wendy instead of the sexy man in front of me. "Of course!" Then we started our way to Wendy's office, "Can't wait to work with you River. " I looked back at Christian and smiled, "You too."
I was sitting there with a half empty drink in my hand not really sure what it was. I was up on the countertop in someone's house I didn’t know because my friend thought it be a good idea to get out. I was left by my own drinking something I didn’t know but I felt fuzzy and good. I could hear the music and it was blaring which was on the verge of giving me a headache. I couldn’t understand why I had to get out more. I don’t usually like people maybe that’s why she made me come out. I was in a slinky purple tank top and some black jean shorts. I took a sip of my drink and it made me even more fuzzy. Then someone walked in I could see their shoes and I knew they were standing right in front of me. But I didn’t even dare look up I didn’t care and I didn’t want to be here. Then there was fingers put under my chin and made me look up. And I saw none other than Seth Green the most popular guy in school. “Yes?” I asked in not such a polite tone. He gave me a weird look then looked at the drink in my hand and looked even more confused. “You’re drinking? The goody two shoes is drinking?” I gave him a weird look then downed it and his mouth was open a bit. I smirked “Yes and you know me Seth?” He smirked a bit “Yeah I do Sophie Edwards.” I was a bit shocked. “You know me how mister popular?” He shrugged “Oh we just used to hang out until High school.” I was surprised that he remembered. I just nodded and reached behind me for another cup and started to drink that one. “Why are you drinking Soph?” I shook my head indicating I didn’t want him to use the nickname.” Oh you don’t like me calling you Soph?” I shrugged “Whatever Sethy.” I took another sip of the drink. “Why are you drinking Soph?” I sighed “Because I can Sethy get over it, I’m not the same girl I was okay?” and with that I jumped down and walked away to where everyone was dancing. I felt someone grab me by my waist and start dancing, I looked back to the person and I had no clue who it was. So I shrugged and started grinding on him from across the thing I saw Lexi my best friend who dragged me here. She waved and did the whole thumbs up thing. I laughed and then I felt the guy behind me leave and I kept dancing and drinking. Then I felt someone else behind me and I just went with it. By this time I was thoroughly drunk off my ass. I turned around and saw the one and only Seth Green I kept dancing. Then there was a slow song, since when was there ever slow songs? but whatever. I went to walk away but he grabbed my hand and pulled me back into him. I think he was semi drunk but not as much as me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he put his around my waist. I laid my head on his shoulder and yawned he bent down his head and I thought he was gonna say something but he just kissed my neck. To be completely honest I kind of liked it- wait what am I thinking? I pulled back and looked at him and he leaned in and I was stuck. Then his lips were on mine and I kissed back, he slipped his thumbs into my hemline of my shorts. He broke the kiss and he went to my ear. “Do you want to go somewhere else?” I couldn’t speak so I just nodded. He nodded and pulled me up the stairs and to a room which looked very familiar. I looked around in the dim lights and saw a picture. Of a little boy and a little girl playing in some tall grass. I had the same picture I knew that had to be Seth. He came up behind me and started to kiss my neck. I pointed at the picture “That’s us.” he nodded and pulled me over to the bed. He gently pushed me onto the bed and climbed on top. I wrapped my legs around his waist as he put his hands on my hip bones. He leaned down and kissed neck and I moved it to one side for easier access. He found my sweet spot and it caused me to moan. He smiled against my skin and I pushed him off and got on top of him. I straddled him and kissed down his neck and got his sweet spot instantly. He moaned which made me smirk. I started to push his shirt up and he knew what I wanted. He sat up and I helped him take it off then he looked at my tank and messed with the end. I put my arms up and he took it off and threw it on the floor. He picked me up and then pressed me into the bed again but farther up. He played with my pants while kissing me he licked my lip for entrance and I denied just to tease him. He groaned then went down my leg and pinched, which made me gasp, which he took full opportunity to stick his tongue in my mouth. Then I felt my zipper go down and I pulled back a bit, he looked at me “Do you not want to?” I just shrugged because I had no clue. He nodded and kissed down my neck and hit my sweet spot and I moaned. “You sure now?” I nodded my head. He unzipped my pants and pulled them down and threw them with on the floor. He started to do his pants but then I helped then pushed them down. He kicked them off and onto the floor. He pulled up the covers and removed our undergarments “You sure Soph?” I just nodded and then you can guess what happened from there.
