DESTRUCTION ALLSTARS REVIEW
Do you remember Destruction Derby on the PS1? Smashing cars into one another, that's good fun. Imagine Destruction Derby with some Overwatch inspired heroes, a special ability or two and some Titanfall wall-running. That's Destruction AllStars. It’s the first big PS5 exclusive game for 2021, and one that has launched as part of PlayStation Plus which is great for those looking for a new PS5 exclusive to play early in 2021.

DEMON'S SOULS (2020) REVIEW
It's been eleven years since FromSoftware released Demon's Souls for the PS3. A game that was initially only released in Japan, but got a wider release following mass imports. Like a wildfire, I remember the tales of Demon's Souls high-difficulty spreading around several podcasts I was listening to at the time. I never played it; the game scared me. That was until now. Bluepoint Games, whose previous works include 2018's remake of Shadow of the Colossus, have taken upon the mammoth job of remaking not only a game many consider a classic, but also a game that saw the birth of an entire sub-genre.

ASTRO'S PLAYROOM REVIEW
The first game you're likely to play on your PlayStation 5 system is Astro's Playroom. It's already installed on the console when you turn it on, but this is more than a simple pack-in or demo disc. Although there are elements and easter eggs that callback to the classic PlayStation 1 demo disc, Astro's Playroom is a 4-hour joy of 3D platforming that's both a showcase for the console and most importantly, the DualSense controller. Unlike games like Welcome Park on the PS Vita or The Playroom on PS4, Astro's Playroom is a fully-fledged game that’s more than just a tech demo.

FORZA HORIZON 4 XBOX SERIES X REVIEW
As far as racing games go, Forza Horizon 4 is one of the best from the past generation. The Xbox One title launched in late 2018 and has been receiving many updates ever since. Now the game has received an Xbox Series X|S optimization that considerably enhances an already fantastic game, bringing more visual fidelity, frame rate consistency and overall the best way to play Forza Horizon 4.

THE FALCONEER REVIEW
Amidst the more significant launch titles for the Xbox Series X|S lies The Falconeer from solo developer Tomas Sala. You take the pilot seat atop a Falcon in this aerial dogfighter above massive vasts of blue oceans and fierce electrical storms. At times The Falconeer is a beautiful and well-oiled machine that runs at both 4K/60 or 120fps, but repetitive gameplay and a terrifyingly boring narrative weight the wings of this Falcon down.

BRIGHT MEMORY REVIEW
Remember back when Xbox did their Xbox Third-Party Event in May? It was our first look at some next-gen gaming, and the game that opened that showcase was Bright Memory: Infinite. It’s still in development and scheduled to release sometime next year. What you do have to play on your brand new Xbox Series X|S at launch is Bright Memory. The game was initially released on PC earlier in the year, and it’s a nice taste teste for what Infinite will be. Here you have a blistering 40-60 minutes of some very video-game-ass-video-gaming that shows solo developer Zeng “FYQD” Xiancheng flexing their skills and showcasing what influences them from games to anime.

CONTROL ULTIMATE EDITION REVIEW
I'm a huge fan of Remedy's Control. Not only was it one of my favourite games of 2019, but it also made the Explosion Networks list of the Top 10 Games of 2019. It's an exciting action game with some genuinely next-generation systems and technology. Unfortunately, consoles missed out on much of Controls biggest visual showcases including ray-tracing as the last-gen consoles struggled to even pause and un-pause the game without a struggle. It was easy to understand why the PC was the only platform to receive ray-tracing. But everything's changed now, and with the release of Control Ultimate Edition for the new consoles, the game looks better than ever, and more importantly, plays better than ever before.

THE MEDIUM REVIEW
It's been over ten years since we saw the release of a Silent Hill game, a fact I couldn't help but keep thinking about as I played The Medium. Developer Bloober Teams follow up to their Blair Witch game is heavily inspired by the Silent Hill franchise. The Medium doesn't feature the survival horror elements of Silent Hill, but it does have thematic similarities, similar story beats and most prominently uses fixed camera angles that the player cannot control. It's a passion project for the developer, and you can feel that, but unfortunately, it is a disappointment and not the true "next-gen horror experience" that fans are looking for.

NUTS REVIEW
Squirrel surveillance may not sound like the most exciting job, but only because you've never worked squirrel surveillance. As Nuts proves, those little critters have many secrets, possibly a wealth of knowledge to share and they're dastardly sneaky. Anything but a tedious job that's for sure.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING ARENA REVIEW [IOS]
Magic: The Gathering Arena has finally arrived on mobile devices. Although the game has been out on PC for some time now, the mobile release marks a huge milestone. Given how popular some other card games, especially Hearthstone, are on mobile platforms, there's sure to be some comparisons between them. Rest assured, this is a great card game, albeit with a slightly less user-friendly introduction than something like Hearthstone.

OUTRIDERS REVIEW
Although the pitch is somewhat confusing, Outriders is not a live-service looter shooter in Destiny or The Division's vein. Instead, it's a straight-up co-op incentivised campaign that you can play solo or with two friends. The opening hour is a slog, which also happens to be what developer People Can Fly chose to release as a demo, but after you're through that, the game just sort of clicks. I reached a point where I sat back on thought to myself, "oh, this is Diablo meets Doom."
