DIY - Hand Washing of Laundry
The advent of the industrial age isn't in the grand scheme of things all that far back in our history as humanity. Frankly, there's large portions of the world that still haven't adopted the industrial age changes to how we manage first world challenges and tasks. When shrinking down to fit into an expat or traveler lifestyle, there's a great deal of amenity and luxury that we simply must sacrifice, but the needs those fulfill still exist. Let's just assume we don't have electricity, or even a great deal of fresh water to work with, regardless of what task we're trying to accomplish, though for the scope of this article, it's about getting your clothes cleaned.

DIY - Homemade Dry Laundry Detergent
As my lifestyle swings further and further towards a radical self-reliance (even though a friend of mine insists there's nothing radical about self-reliance), it is obvious that additional consideration must be given to the things we take for granted in our lives. A sense of cleanliness and respectability are mandatory if one of the primary objectives is to mingle with the people of the world and seek their stories. It goes without saying that you cannot smell the scent of my active lifestyle through a video posted online, but I guarantee that I am very self conscious as I proceed with my plans of going completely off grid with every aspect of my life.

Survey and Self Aware
For anyone choosing to embark on any trip I'd always recommend a bit of forethought. With equipment being such a big part of a travel, being informed is absolutely mandatory. Even if you're just backpacking somewhere you should never just throw a bag over your shoulder and go. Bags fit a certain way, or sometimes not at all. Not all gear is made the same. Any tool taken with you has pros and cons.

Considering a Sailboat
When arriving in California, after an epic roadtrip, seizing the means of familiar and future was my primary personal task. I didn't have even a bed, yet. I'll have fixed that by now, I hope! A boat, however, that was the logical first step for someone who dreams of seeing the world in the most sustainable way possible, and creating content to share with everyone along the way of chasing that dream.
