A change of scenery 1 of 2
Part 1 of 2 James stepped out onto JFK Boulevard as the big clock on the Philadelphia City Hall tower hit half past eight. For all intents and purposes, the streets should have been empty and quiet, or at least not as congested as it was with traffic, but it was 8:30 on a hot and humid Friday night in July, and they were calling it the second heatwave of the year, with the first one happening a few weeks before in June.
A change of Scenery 2 of 2
Part 2 Somewhere in the Pennsylvania Appalachians It was just a little over a week after their conversation outside City Hall and Cindy had followed the GPS directions to the address of the cabin that James had inherited from his uncle. The cabin, as it turned out, wasn't so far away from civilization as she had led herself to believe, just far enough away to be secluded from all of the 24 hour chaos that the city brings. There was a substantial town not far from the cabin too, and they didn't seem to be technically stuck in the 20th century, so that was good.
The Brinks Heist
"Ok, we need to make every move count," the commander cried out as the full sized remote control jeep sped towards the Brinks truck packed full of explosives. It hit the back of the truck, and the corresponding explosion took out the vault-like door, and killed the two guards that were riding in the back instantly, as well as the driver. Before the smoke settled, three unidentifiable figures leaped out of a waiting van and pried the door the rest of the way open.
The Mermaid and the Phoenix
On an island in the realm of Fantasia sat a tiny fishing village where all the little fishing boats come and go, in that fishing village sat a small little tavern that had the prettiest little barmaid that old Jack ever had the fortune of laying his eyes on. He was a lonely old man who just wanted just a little bit of companionship, and was approaching the end of his life cycle, he knew this one was coming, and could feel the inner clock setting for the last hours of his life being set.
Lara Croft made her way across the winding wooden bridge that lay across the floor of the enchanted forest. On the other side of the bridge stood a tomb; inside the tomb was the great golden McGuffin. Before entering the old tomb, she took in the serenity of the forest knowing that once she obtained the item that the great Snipe hunters of old hid away, all Hallelujah would break loose. However, she put to memory where the bridge was and how it winders her hand reached out to the golden McGuffin; her fingers wrapped around it and...
THE BLACK CATS BOOKSTORE
"Hello, my name is Poe. I am just letting you know that I am the true owner of all of these great books that line the shelves of this great bookstore. They call it THE BLACK CAT'S BOOKSTORE for a reason -- me! Feel free to look around and select a book; who knows I may help you select or object to a book. Don't worry; you will know which is which. My favorite book btw is "THE BLACK CAT" by Edgar Allen Poe."
The great deer Bambi stood at the side of the bridge and looked down at the river by where he was born. Man had ventured so deep into the woods that even his place of birth was unrecognizable. The mother of an old friend used to say that if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all, so he didn't say a word. However, he did drop a surprise onto the bridge before going on his way.
The freight train pulls its cargo of crude oil through the scenic western Pennsylvania town. Snow covered the grassy field beyond the track despite there being very little evidence of snow on the actual tracks. It seems as if it is clear sailing for the train as the storm that was rampant just a few hours before, now gives way to beautiful purple hues in the now blue sky.
The Cape May Lighthouse that once shone its light across both the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay for now stands silent, but the beautiful structure remains along the southern shore line of the New Jersey coast, where the blue sky still gives way to orange hues along the western sky illuminating the blue green water that skirts along the edge of the beach.
