What 'Shadowhunters' Means to Me... And So Many Others
It’s been about two and a half weeks since my favorite show, Shadowhunters, was cancelled. I’ve been actively online working with the Save Shadowhunters movement, adding the proper tags to almost all of my tweets — not every single one because I don’t want to get blocked from tweeting into the hashtag. (I even created another account just in case.)

When Our Shows Leave Us
What happens to an avid fan when their favorite show gets canceled? Well, a lot of things. For some fans, it’s a sign to move on. It doesn’t hit them very hard and they can say, “Well, it had a good run and this is unfortunate, but oh well.” It’s just another show to them. Us, in fandom world, call those fans ‘causal fans’. Then there are the hardcore stans. These are the fans with social media accounts dedicated to these shows. They spend thousands of dollars on traveling and going to conventions. They spend nights camping outside of buildings just for a glimpse of one of the actors. I should know, I’m one of these types of fans. I’ve traveled to see people I love from TV. I flew to England for ten days. I flew to New York for a week. I’ve met most of the actors I admire from the shows I watch because I sit outside of a building for twelve hours in the ungodly heat just for thirty seconds with them to tell them what they’ve done for me.

Beating Up Anxiety
As most millennials, I live with a couple of mental illnesses and I live in New York City, a city designed to stress people out and give them major panic attacks. I’m broke. I pay over a thousand dollars in rent every month. I’m in the middle of looking for a new roommate. Looking for a job. And looking for my mental stability.

Representation in Freeform's 'Shadowhunters'
We all sit and binge watch television at some point in our lives. We find our favorites TV shows that way. A couple years ago I had many friends telling me I should watch Freeform’s Shadowhunters. So I thought "why not? I’ll try it." I tried it and spoiler alert, I LOVED IT! Though the show has always had a few problems with certain things (acting, writing, storylines, or lack thereof) the first season of this show drew me in for all of the amazing things that it brought to the table.
